Specially Selected Shrimp and Crab Ravioli

Last Updated on January 21, 2019

Shrimp and crab ravioli show up in Aldi’s limited-time Special Buy (ALDI Finds) rotation from time to time, often more than once a year. They make a good main dinner course when they are paired with a jar of Aldi’s Priano Alfredo Sauce (sold separately) and served with a crisp salad and garlic bread.

Specially Selected Shrimp and Crab Ravioli come frozen in a bag and are advertised as “tender pasta filled with a delicious blend of shrimp and crab.” When I first bought them a year ago, the ravioli seemed to be filled with more cheese than seafood. When I bought them again more recently, I did notice several small chunks of shrimp in the filling, so it appears Aldi has tweaked the recipe and, appropriately, put more shrimp and crab in the Shrimp and Crab Ravioli.

The ravioli cook quickly and easily. I’m assuming the pasta and seafood are pre-cooked, which means you are basically just reheating them. The instructions say to add frozen ravioli to 4 quarts of boiling water and heat uncovered for 3 to 5 minutes, or until ravioli float or are at your desired level of tenderness. Drain, add sauce of your choice, and serve. Easy peasy. I always serve these with jarred alfredo sauce, but you could experiment with marinara sauce, pesto, or anything that sounds good.

One bag of ravioli contains 4 servings, with about 10 pieces of ravioli per person. It feeds my husband, two young daughters, and me just fine, but if you are feeding hungry teenagers or adults, I would recommend preparing two bags of ravioli (and two jars of sauce of your choice).

The Verdict:

Aldi’s Specially Selected Shrimp and Crab Ravioli seem to contain more seafood than they used to, and they taste pretty good when paired with a jar of alfredo sauce. They make a quick, easy dinner, and you can’t beat the price. Recommended.

  1. I found the ravioli to be delicious! I wish I had purchased more than one bag when they were on special buy at my Aldi. I made a roasted garlic and tomato vodka sauce to serve with it, absolutely delicious!

  2. The shrimp & crab ravioli is delicious! I wished I had purchased more than 1 bag also. I will have to keep an eye out when they come back. I used Aldi’s Priano Alfredo sauce as well and it turned out great. This is a very quick and easy meal.

  3. Very disappointing. Very little filling and no flavor. It was like eating thick pasta. We were excited to try them but will not our base them again.

  4. I bought a bag of these and when I went to the freezer to cook them, the bag looks like someone blew up a balloon inside it. What is that from and is it still safe to eat?

I’ve been buying these for a few years now, just bought 10 bags last week to ensure I have them throughout the year. I usually pair the ravioli with garlic Alfredo sauce and garlic bread, with a salad right before.

I’ve noticed if you leave the ravioli simmering in the water for 10-15minutes, instead of 4-5, the fishy aftertaste isn’t as potent. Don’t worry, they won’t get soggy.

I’m gonna try the tomato vodka sauce next and see how that is.

  6. Great flavor but I had some shells in my batch

    • Crab ravioli was so Good! We got two bags and enjoyed so much but can’t ever find it any more at the Pine Valley store in Wilmington, N.C. Ws wondering why???

  7. Not very good. Fishy smell , mostly tasteless ..

  8. I just bought the shrimp ravioli. Can’t wait to try. I had the lobster a few weeks ago and went back for more and they were out but had the shrimp.

I did not taste any shrimp or crab just cheese, disappointed

  10. Not even a hint of shrimp or lobster flavor in these ravioli. Had it not been for the lobster sauce I garnished them with, this meal would’ve been an epic fail. It is simply cheese ravioli, THAT IS ALL!

  11. So disappointed, no shrimp or lobster, minimal cheese filling, warning! Don’t waste your money
