Bremer Corn Dogs

Last Updated on July 8, 2017

Corn dogs are one of the ultimate summer carnival foods, but you can get your fix at Aldi rather than waiting for the week of the state fair.

Aldi sells Bremer Corn Dogs as a Regular Buy in the frozen food section. They come 6 to a box and consist of “batter wrapped chicken franks on a stick” with “honey flavored crunchy batter.” One corn dog has 200 calories, 9 grams of fat, 30 mg of cholesterol, 600 mg of sodium, and 9 grams of sugar (9 grams of sugar!?). While they aren’t healthy, my family enjoys these as an occasional treat, and we can’t tell much difference between these and restaurant or carnival corn dogs.

The box front advertises these corn dogs heat in the microwave in 60 seconds, but we all know corn dogs taste best — and have the crispiest breading — when they are baked, or deep fried if you are so fortunate.

To bake them, preheat your oven to 375 degrees, place your desired number of corn dogs on a shallow baking pan and bake in the oven for 23-25 minutes if frozen, or 18-20 minutes if thawed.

If you’re short on time and want to microwave your corn dogs, place 1 corn dog on a microwave-safe dish and heat for 55-60 seconds on high power if frozen, or 30-35 seconds on high power if thawed.

You also have the option of deep frying these corn dogs. To do so, thaw your corn dogs completely, then place the corn dogs in 350-degree oil and fry for 5 to 6 minutes until hot. Drain the corn dogs on a paper towel. Do not deep fry frozen corn dogs.

The Verdict:

Aldi’s Regular Buy Bremer Corn Dogs aren’t the healthiest food, but they are a nice treat and may bring back memories of fairs or carnivals you’ve visited. And the kids love them. Don’t forget the ketchup.

  1. A+ food item right here

it’s actually what got me to start going to aldi 1-2x a week

1/2 the price of grocery stores / and walmart brand

and they’re “healthier” , and kids and adults love them

i prefer the old school ones , but the mini’s are great too

if you have access to a deep fryer … DO IT !!!

they remind us of carnivals 20 years ago 🙂

    enjoy !!

  2. Don’t ever put ketchup on a corn dog, its mustard every time!!!!

  3. A year ago I thought these were great. I had a large Halloween party and served them up. The kids loved them.
Recently I bought a package and I don’t even know what to say. What have they done to the wiener inside? Nasty rubber band texture Holes through out like a sponge.
I guess I am done with these. Whatever Bremer did…they need to fix.

  4. Recently purchased these corn dogs as the grandchildren were coming for a sleepover and it was a near tragic mistake. Inside one of the corn dogs was a piece of broken off stick. It was a jagged 1 1/8 inch jagged piece of wood. Picture that in a child’s throat! There also was a fully in tact stick in it so instead of disposing a hotdog with a broken stick, another stick was inserted in it. That’s a bad mistake. Imagine a 2year old eating a corn dog like that! Not a pretty picture! Will not be purchasing these again!
