Aldi stores do not have a dedicated bakery where you can buy freshly baked bread or a cookie made from scratch. They do have an aisle full of baked goods, though. If you like bakery-style cookies that are a step above the Chips Ahoy types you find prepackaged in the snack aisle, then you might like Aldi’s Village Bakery cookies. Aldi sells them in several flavors: Chocolate Chunk, Kitchen Sink, Toffee Almond, and Oatmeal Cranberry.
These are sold in clear plastic clam shell-style boxes, with 10 cookies in each box. At $3 per box at my local Aldi, these aren’t cheap, but they are a slightly better deal than, for example, Lofthouse cookies sold at a regular grocery store. The cookies are chewy and fairly large, at 170 to 190 calories per 1-cookie serving.
Village Bakery Chocolate Chunk Cookies
The Chocolate Chunk style is as advertised, containing a nice amount of semi-sweet chocolate chunks. These were not as sweet as other varieties of chocolate chip cookies I’ve eaten, but they were okay. I would buy them again if I needed cookies that look homemade but I was short on time, but otherwise, I prefer my own homemade chocolate chip cookies over the Village Bakery ones.
Village Bakery Kitchen Sink Cookies
The Kitchen Sink cookies are all together different. These are peanut butter cookies with chocolate chunks, peanut butter chips, white chocolate chunks, pretzel pieces, and coconut. Basically, as the name states, they have everything but the kitchen sink. I had fun explaining the saying to my daughters when they asked about the odd cookie name. I liked these cookies slightly better than the Chocolate Chunk variety, if only because they are so unique, and the bakery at the regular grocery store we shop at occasionally (where we buy the few things we need that Aldi doesn’t sell) does not sell any cookies similar to this one. Still, while these cookies were fun, they are fairly average as far as taste goes.
Village Bakery Toffee Almond Cookies
The Toffee Almond cookies are probably my favorite. These are soft cookies with Heath bar pieces and almonds baked into them. Anything with Heath bar is a winner in my book.
The Verdict:
Aldi’s Village Bakery cookies come several flavors: Chocolate Chunk, Kitchen Sink (peanut butter cookies containing chocolate chunks, peanut butter chips, white chocolate chunks, pretzels, and coconut), Toffee Almond, and Oatmeal Cranberry. These are large, chewy cookies sold near the baked goods such as donuts and French bread. They are reminiscent of what you might find in the bakery at a regular grocery store. They taste good, and we like the Toffee Almond cookies best. However, if given the choice, my family prefers the store’s imitation Girl Scout cookie line found in the snack aisle over the Village Bakery cookies.

We LOVE Aldi’s. Shop there frequently for all kinds of things. Fresh produce, coffee, candy… Among our favorites are the Village Bakery Kitchen Sink cookies which have always been SOFT and delicious. This summer, however, the Village Bakery cookies are not good. They are stale, hard. Very, very disappointing. We’ve bought the Kitchen Sink and also the Chocolate Chunk and both are stale. What’s going on. We live in Florida but spend summers here in Hendersonville. Thanks.
I found Village Bakery Gourmet Raspberry Linzer cookies only ONE time at our Bolivar, MO Aldi’s. I wish they were there on a regular basis. I would buy them continually. Is there anywhere else I could get these cookies?
Village Bakery is an Aldi house brand not available anywhere else, so you’re unfortunately out of luck unless Aldi brings them back at some point in the future.
Oh My the , attempt I have been tonAldi in a while, but my friend told about the chocolate wine sold there. On my it is so good. But the REAL treat was these Kitchen Sink cookie. IThey were so good on the first day, I shared with my leasing office girls. But today I went back and got aonter pack. Lawd help me. Aldi You Did That!!
