Roseland Pork Baby Back Ribs

You can most certainly satisfy your craving for ribs at Aldi. The grocer offers several varieties as Regular Buys and Special Buys (ALDI Finds). Today, I’m looking at the Special Buy Roseland Pork Baby Back Ribs.

Roseland Pork Baby Back Ribs

The fully cooked ribs come frozen in barbecue sauce in a 24-ounce package, which claims to serve four people. You defrost the ribs in the fridge overnight before heating and serving. Each serving nets you 260 calories, 6 grams of fat (29% DV), 620 mg sodium (26% DV), and 12 grams of sugar.

My family found that these ribs more accurately serve two to three people. If you divide the ribs into portions for four people, each serving includes only two rib bones.

Small portion sizes aside, these ribs taste fantastic. We chose to grill ours so I could free up my oven to roast some fresh broccoli as a side dish. The meat was tender, and the sauce was tangy. Our ribs had a nice smoky flavor after grilling as well.

Because the ribs are already cooked, all you have to do is heat them. You can do so using a conventional oven, grill or barbecue, or microwave.

Ingredients are as follows: pork baby back ribs, water, cane sugar, tomato paste, distilled vinegar, and less than 2% molasses, brown sugar, sea salt, caramel color, concentrated pineapple juice, natural smoke flavor, corn starch, salt, dextrose, xanthan gum, potassium phosphate, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and spices.

To heat in the oven, pre-heat the oven to 375 degrees. Peel back the film and remove the ribs from the package. Place the ribs, meat side up, in a single layer on a sheet or tray in the middle of the oven. Heat the ribs for about 25 minutes or until hot. Apply remaining sauce as desire.

To heat on the grill or barbecue, heat the grill or barbecue to about 375 degrees or medium heat. Peel back the film and remove the ribs from the package. Place ribs, meat side up, in a single layer, directly on the grill or on a sheet or tray in the middle of the grill. Heat the ribs for about 25 minutes or until hot. Apply remaining sauce as desired.

To heat in the microwave, peel back film and remove ribs from the package. Place the ribs, meat side up, in a single layer in a microwavable container. The ribs may be cut into portions to fit in the container. cover the ribs with microwavable plastic film or a paper towel. Heat on high for 4 to 6 minutes or until hot.

The Verdict:

Aldi’s Special Buy (ALDI Find) Roseland Pork Baby Back Ribs are excellent, with tender meat and flavorful sauce. The package claims to serve four people, but we found that one package more accurately serves only two or three people.
