EDITOR’S NOTE: Updated for 2023.

How much you need a blender depends on your tastes. I know some people who are blending things up just about every day, whether it’s in the cause of cooking or because they’re whipping up a smoothie. Other people I know keep one in the cabinet only for those rare times when they need to use it for some specific recipe or occasion.

Most blenders, mine included, are large and heavy. They’re designed to be kept in the kitchen, and most people aren’t going to haul their blenders anywhere unless the situation really calls for it. And if the situation really calls for taking your blender somewhere else, dropping that hefty appliance in the trunk of the car is no fun.

Alternatively, if you need to take a blender somewhere else — or if you just want a home blender that takes up less space — you can opt for a portable blender. Portable blenders tend to be lighter and usually run off a battery rather than a wall plug. To be sure, portable blenders have their tradeoffs: on balance, they’re less powerful than traditional blenders, making them less ideal for really tough operations, like ice. On the other hand, the convenience factor is certainly a big plus.

Aldi has sold many, many kitchen appliances over the years, including blenders. And, wouldn’t you know it, now Aldi is stocking a portable blender.

What We Know:

The Ambiano Portable Blender (Product Code: 705253) is an Aldi Find, which means it’s only in stores for a limited time. Once it’s sold out, you won’t be able to find it in stores again until it comes back, whenever that might be. And because Aldi doesn’t ship products online, if you can’t find it in your store, you won’t be able to get it.

In August of 2023, the Aldi blender retails for $14.99. That’s less than the $16.99 it went for in August of 2022. That’s less than most, if not all, of the portable blenders I can find on Amazon. Of note: The Ambiano looks a whole lot like this model on Amazon.

The blender has a rechargeable battery that is charged via a USB port, and the blender comes with a charger to make that happen.

Here’s more information about the blender, according to Aldi:

  • Available in Red, Pink, Blue, or Black
  • Blend, mix, puree, or whip on the go
  • Includes silicone strap for on the go use
  • Includes USB charger

What We Don’t Know:

We haven’t yet tested this specific blender, so we don’t know how easily it operates, how powerful it is, or how durable it is. We’ve created this open thread for users to share their thoughts.
