Aldi Creates a Coloring Book for Super Fans

There are several kinds of Aldi shoppers. First, there are the bargain hunters who shop at Aldi for the low prices. Then, there are the foodies who appreciate the finer culinary offerings the store has, such as gourmet cheese or the wine aisle. Finally, there are the people who like the thrill of hunting down limited-edition specials each week and who purchase everyday Aldi products with cult followings such as the “red bag” chicken or the peanut butter cups.

There can be overlap among all the groups, but this last group of people are what Aldi calls Super Fans. They probably belong to at least one social media Aldi fan group, and they might call themselves Aldi Nerds. They probably know the meaning of the phrase, “Where’s the Ranch?” and they may have shouted “CAW CAW!” in the Aisle of Shame (a term for that famous middle aisle with all the specials).

Aldi has indulged its fans in recent weeks by selling clothing and accessories, and even toys, with the Aldi logo prominently displayed on them. It started earlier this spring with an Aldi Gear Capsule Collection that includes pajamas, socks, a water bottle, pet toys, and keychain quarter holders. Soon after that, Aldi sold a children’s Aldi Food Market and a play food set.

The trend has sparked some polarizing discussion on Aldi social media groups about whether people should be paying money to basically advertise for Aldi via clothing and toys. However, buying merchandise that displays a company name is nothing new.

In the midst of all this Aldi fan gear, we noticed one more clever nod to Aldi fans: an adult coloring book designed just for Aldi Super Fans.

The Bendon Advanced Activity Book (Product Code: 706080) cost $4.99 at the time of publication. The book comes in several designs, some of which are typical adult coloring books featuring seasonal themes or words of affirmation and kindness. The real standout among this group, though, is the Aldi Super Fan Coloring Book. Its cover features a shopping cart filled with Aldi cult favorites such as “red bag” chicken, peanut butter cups, and ranch dressing.

These coloring books all cost less than the average adult coloring book you might find on Amazon. And where else can you find an Aldi-themed coloring book anyway?

The coloring books are all Aldi Finds, which means they’re only in stores for a short time. Aldi does not offer online ordering for its specials that are not in stock at your local store.

The books are published by Bendon, whose products can be found at a variety of retailers including Amazon, Big Lots, Costco, and Books-a-Million. Aldi frequently sells Bendon products such as school readiness supplies, children’s board books, children’s storybooks and activity pads, art kits, and more.

Here’s more information on the Aldi Super Fan Coloring Book and other activity books, according to Aldi:

  • Other options include advanced coloring and activities for hours of entertainment
  • Book choices include an Aldi Super Fan Coloring Book, Winter Coloring Book, Kindness Matters Coloring Book, Color by Sticker Book, Word Search Puzzle book, or Sudoku Puzzle Book

I picked up the Aldi Super Fan Coloring Book on the day it arrived in my local stores. I don’t typically use adult coloring books, but this one was too funny to resist.

Skimming through the book, it features coloring pages dedicated to all sorts of Aldi-exclusive products, including Clancy’s Kettle Chips, Stonemill Everything Bagel Seasoning, Appleton Farms Sliced Bacon, Benton’s knockoff Girl Scout cookies, Mama Cozzi’s pizzas, street corn dip, Huntington Home Candles, Happy Farms String Cheese, and brownie batter dessert hummus. And of course, there are pages devoted to the “red bag” chicken, peanut butter cups, and ranch dressing.

There are also BINGO pages and pages with word searches, mazes, color by numbers, and crossword puzzles. There’s even a page where you try to find all the hidden peanut butter cups. There are also answer keys at the back of the book.

This book definitely has a sense of humor. One page features a shopping bag that says “Bagged myself an Aldi haul.” Another page features bottles of ranch dressing arranged in a spiral design with the phrase “Spiraling out of ranch.” Yet another page says “Today’s schedule: Aldi Blah Blah Blah Chill.” One more page says “#Aldi. It only tastes expensive.”

The pages are all perforated so you can easily tear them out to share or display.

The whole book is both genius and hilarious, and I think my family will have some tongue-in-cheek fun coloring this and filling in all the activity pages.

The Verdict:

The Bendon Aldi Super Fan Coloring Book is a brilliant collection of pages featuring Aldi Fan Favorites to color in such as “red bag” chicken, peanut butter cups, ranch dressing, everything bagel seasoning, kettle chips, and more. There are also fun activity pages that include word searches, mazes, crossword puzzles, and BINGO. This coloring book doesn’t take itself too seriously, and it’s a whole lot of fun. If you’re an Aldi super fan, we highly recommend this coloring book.
