If you’re looking for kitchen gadgets to make a hot drink, Aldi might have just what you need. The grocer has rotated various coffee makers, French presses, cold brew systems, and kettles for heating water into the middle aisle over the years.

The latest small appliance to hit Aldi shelves is a single-serve espresso machine. Aldi has sold a single-serve coffee maker before, and they’ve also sold an espresso maker. What we haven’t seen Aldi sell until now is a combination of the two: an espresso machine that makes single servings.

Espresso originated in Italy. Compared to traditional coffee, espresso has a more concentrated flavor and more caffeine per ounce, but espresso is usually served in a smaller portion, which ultimately nets you less caffeine than a regular cup of coffee.

This single-serve espresso machine is sold under the Ambiano brand, which is not a company but rather is the private label Aldi uses for assorted kitchen products. Other recent Ambiano products at Aldi have included mini waffle makers, an electric salt and pepper mill set, and an electric raclette grill or fondue set.

What We Know:

Ambiano Single-Serve Espresso Machine

The Ambiano Single-Serve Espresso Machine (Product Code: 706100) cost $79.99 at the time of publication. That’s in the lower price range for single-serve espresso makers on Amazon, where many machines will run you more than $100.

This is an Aldi Find, so it’s in stores for only a short time. Each store gets one shipment, and after they sell out, they’re gone. You can’t order Aldi products online if they aren’t in stock at your local store.

Here’s more information about the espresso machine, according to Aldi:

  • Available in Black or Navy
  • Features 2 preset sizes – espresso (1.35 oz) & lungo (3.38 oz)
  • Includes removeable 1-liter water tank for easy refill

This appears to come with a three-year warranty serviced by Protel, a common Aldi warranty service provider.

What We Don’t Know:

We haven’t tried this espresso machine, so we don’t know how well it works, how easy to it is use, or how it holds up to regular use. We write open threads so readers can share about their experiences with Aldi products and ask questions.

  1. I received this Aldi espresso maker as a gift several weeks ago. I have tried every style and brand of “Nespresso” original pods but have not found one that will consistently brew correctly. Occasionally one will brew correctly but most seem to drip from behind the pod into the pod disposal bin. I have owned the Ambiano espresso machine for a couple of years and it has worked flawlessly so I’m very disappointed that I can’t get this to function correctly.

    • This single-serve espresso machine should not have been in any Aldi stores prior to today, December 4th, according to the weekly Aldi ad. You might have received the Aldi Ambiano single-serve coffee maker, which is similar and arrived in Aldi stores in October. You can view that post — and potentially troubleshoot your machine — at this link: https://www.aldireviewer.com/ambiano-single-serve-coffee-maker-2/

      • No, I definitely had the single serve espresso machine. It was a gift from my daughter who lives in Milwaukee. It was sold in her area in the late summer/fall 2022. After I made the original post and tried everything I could think of to fix the problem I called the 800 number and they asked for the unit number and color and my address and they shipped me a new one in less than a week. I noticed the new one was a 2022 production date and the original one was 2021. The replacement unit has worked flawlessly for over a month now and I love it! Bravo Aldi for superb customer service!

  2. They released this exact machine a few months ago but it was really limited in quantity – I was so sad I didn’t grab it then and was happy to see it back. I remember it specifically being the espresso maker not the single serve coffee maker. Here’s a video someone posted back in July reviewing the espresso maker: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rgTgG4v9fKA

  3. That’s interesting. Thanks for the info. I either missed seeing the single serve espresso maker the first time around, or it somehow wasn’t sold in my area.

  4. What expression pods does this machine use?

    • Nespresso Original pods. They don’t seem to sell these at Aldi, but at target you can get Target’s brand, Starbucks, and Peets. They sell for around $7.00 or 10 to 12 pods. Be careful, make sure you get Nespresson ORIGINAL pods, not the vertuo pods.

      • These coffee pods are on Amazon for $26.00 for 100 capsules. They are imported from Italy and are outstanding. I purchased the red box and they have a black box that sells for $25.00 for 100 capsules also imported from Italy. I have refillable capsules but at this price why bother.

  5. Mine seems to work well with the three year warranty and a 60 dollar price tag I’m pleased. Could be stronger. So I made a 4 oz Moka pot of a hawaii and Italy blend and added two capsules after whisking one with sugar and then made some steamed milk in a pot and frothed it. My neighbor saw my coffee out fron t and said it look delectable.

I’m content as a cool cat!

  6. I bought an ambiano espresso machine today at aldi for $20.00 on sale. I am excited to try it.

  7. I just brought one today. I’m excited about it!

  8. I just bought one for $21…I will have to try it out…

  9. Just got one and did the initial cleaning. Turn on machine to warm up by pressing either cup size and instantly started dripping. Not a good sign. Blinks while warming up. Steady light when ready. Pressed large cup size with no pod in order to clean per manual. So loud! Did three clean cycles. Kept dripping after each one. Says to now unplug and let it cool down and then plug in and start a real cup. Gotta go to work. Will report back
