EDITOR’S NOTE: Aldi updated its potting bench for 2024. You can read about the new bench here.

Aldi has gotten into the gardening business big time, especially over the last few years. The grocer rotates various green thumb supplies into its stock through the spring months, including greenhouses both large and small, stacking planters, grow lights, tumbling composters, garden seeds, and even potting soil and garden soil.

Aldi likes to surprise us with new big-ticket gardening products from time to time. Last fall, Aldi unexpectedly introduced a winter protection greenhouse. This spring, they’re rolling out a brand-new wooden potting bench.

Potting benches are not used for sitting on like other benches. Instead, they offer a workspace where you can stand while performing certain gardening chores. Potting benches are useful for corralling gardening supplies such as pots, planters, seed starting trays, and hand tools such as spades and trowels. You can also store bags of potting mix, soil, mulch, or fertilizer on or under a potting bench. The idea is that you can keep all your supplies and tools within easy reach, and you don’t need to bend, kneel, or otherwise work strenuously to get your gardening tasks done.

Potting benches can be made out of repurposed furniture such as a table or dresser, or you can purchase specially made potting benches like what Aldi is selling.

What We Know:

Belavi Wooden Potting Bench (2)

The Belavi Wooden Potting Bench (Product Code: 813039) cost $69.99 in March of 2023 and in May of 2022. That’s a lot cheaper than the majority of potting benches on Amazon, most of which cost more than $100.

This is an Aldi Find, which means it’s only in stores for a short time. After it sells out, Aldi does not offer online ordering for specials that are not in stock at your local store.

Here’s more information about the bench, according to Aldi:

  • Available in a Gray or Natural Wood Finish
  • Working height is approximately 32.67″
  • Includes two shelves for additional storage
  • Features four hooks for hanging tools
  • Includes foldaway side table for additional work space

This bench comes with a three-year warranty serviced by Protel, a common Aldi warranty service provider. Protel has offered warranty or after-sales service for other Aldi products including the Crofton 14″ Stir Fry Wok Pan, the Easy Home Cordless Cyclonic Stick Vacuum, and the Belavi Stacking Ottoman.

What We Don’t Know:

We have not yet tried the Belavi Wooden Potting Bench, so we don’t know how easy it is to assemble or how durable it is. We also don’t know the complete dimensions or the weight capacity for this bench. We write open threads so readers can share about their experiences with products.

  1. Purchased one of these potting tables today.
Negatives so far. Wood is very thin, so I am not sure how much weight this can handle, maybe only small/medium pots. Also, it came with no instructions on how to put it together. If anyone out there has purchase one of these and yours came with instructions please share. We called the number listed on the warranty card, but they just sent another copy of the warranty card.

  2. Just unboxed it. No manual (or even an assembly sheet a la Ikea). No predrilled screw holes in most of the wood pieces, so I would have to guess where the screws go. Keep the carton because the photos are your only guide as to how it should go together. Looked online on Aldi’s pages under “Warranties and Manuals” and there’s only an item name and no manual.

  3. Wow thanks guys. I purchased mine yesterday. It’s raining today so I won’t put it together until my handyman comes back from vacation, since there are no instructions. I’m gong to use it next to my blackstone griddle for extra storage space ie.. cooking utensils, oil bottles, outdoor table ware.

  4. very flimsy and not sturdy at all. Mine came with instructions, underneath the foam at the bottom of the box.

  5. I scored mine on clearance, just opened it. No instructions in my box either. 😔 I shook out all the foam, shone a flashlight in the box, nada.

  6. I just opened the one I purchased yesterday and there were instructions right on top of all the pieces. I would love to share them to anyone who needs them. Does anyone know a site that allows you to upload various instructions for Aldi items?

  7. Just bought one on clearance. Mine came with an instruction manual. Not sure why everyone says it doesn’t. It’s lightweight but so far it looks good. I doubt I could find anything comparable for $35 so I’m happy.

  8. I can not put it together

can not put it together, have the instructions, cannot figure out the legs and front and back boards that hold it together please help!!

  9. I eventually assembled it to look like the photo.

  10. I just purchased one on clearance for $50. As with others, no instructions and no pre drilled holes. Any one with instructions, can you please share? Otherwise, going to need to hire someone to help put together.

  11. Purchased my on Tuesday. Instructions included. Holes were pre drilled where to start the screws. Not into the piece screwing into, which made sense. Seems like a cedar or fir-very fragrant. Although light weight, I’ve had no problems with the strength of the wood. Made well and so far, it is holding up great. At $69.99 it was a great deal as others start from $99.99 upwards. Just right for repotting in my greenhouse.

    • Mine also came with instructions, predrilled holes, and two extra screws. Doesn’t say how to put the metal bracket on but you can easily figure that out.

  12. No instructions for the bench but a manual for a flower shelf. Trying to look at pics to assemble.

  13. My wonderful husband and daughter put ours together. It was real booger. It is sturdy and lightweight.

I want to put mine outside against the brick wall fo the house but I am worried it will warp. Any one else?

  14. Aldi has redesigned this potting bench for 2024. You can read about the new bench here: https://www.aldireviewer.com/aldi-is-selling-a-redesigned-belavi-wooden-potting-bench/
