Aldi is Quietly Dialing Back Prices on Some Aldi Finds

If there was one word to capture the economy in 2022, it was inflation. It’s no exaggeration to say that literally everyone was talking about it. Consumers fretted over the rise in certain prices, including gas and later eggs, even as they worried about temporary shortages in certain goods. Retailers struggled to contain prices and stay competitive with one another. Thanks to a host of factors, including post-pandemic demand rebounds and supply chain problems, prices went up in 2022.

Aldi was not immune to price increases. While the grocer has long been a consistent low price leader, it was forced to raise prices like every other grocer, much to shoppers’ frustration. We saw it in both everyday staples and limited-time buys. Across the board, prices went up, and the total cost of our shopping cart went up, too.

However, there have been glimmers of hope. As of early 2023, inflation is subsiding, and there is optimism that it will continue to drop in 2023 as the world returns to normal.

After a year of price increases, the phrase price drop might seem like wishful thinking. However, we’ve seen Aldi do a little of that such as when it dialed some product prices back to 2019 during the recent Thanksgiving season. We’ve also noticed that some — not all, but some — Aldi Finds have dropped in price from what they were last year or the year before.

This list is not comprehensive, but here are a few examples we’ve noticed recently.

Huntington Home 7-Wick Large Candle

Huntington Home 7-Wick Large Candle

Candles have been an Aldi staple for years now, both as Regular Buys and Aldi Finds. This big 7-wick model sold in January of 2022 for $24.99, but when it came back in November of that same year, it was $5 less.

Easy Home LED Ultrasonic Humidifier

This little product has fluctuated a bit in price over the years. Aldi sold it for $16.99 in 2020 and 2021, then raised the price by $1 to $17.99 in 2022, and then dropped the price back to $16.99 in early 2023.

Huntington Home 12-Drawer Rolling Cart

To be fair, we’re not 100% sure if Aldi is selling the exact same model in every case — the grocer will sometimes stock variations on a product — but the names are more or less the same. That said, the price for this has shifted a lot. The cart sold for $39.99 in February of 2021, $49.99 in December of 2021, $59.99 in March of 2022, and then back down to $49.99 in December of 2022.

SOHL Furniture Accent Bench

The Aldi line of accent furniture — teal cabinets, tables, and such — has been one of the grocer’s most popular product lines, spawning endless social media posts. While the double-door cabinet model has seen steady price increases over the years and the single-door cabinet trended up in its most recent price, the bench price has dropped. The bench cost $129.99 in March of 2022 but fell a full $30 to $99.99 in February of 2023.

Ambiano Premium Nutrition Blender

The blender saw a price hike from $29.99 in January of 2021 to $36.99 in March of 2022. However, it fell slightly to $34.99 in December of 2022.

Crane Fitness Mat

Aldi regularly sells this mat in its limited buy section, especially around the New Year. In 2020 and 2021 it sold for $19.99, but in 2021 it rose to $22.99. Then in late 2022, the price fell back to $19.99.

Weider Adjustable Workout Bench
