Aldi is Selling a Pro-Form Workout Bench

Aldi has been hitting the fitness game hard in recent weeks. Typically, the discount grocer sells fitness equipment around the New Year, when people are eager to act upon their resolutions to get in shape. That’s usually when we see big products such as indoor bikes, foldable exercise bikes, and treadmills, along with smaller exercise products such as tummy trimmers, exercise balls, hand grip strengtheners, and numerous other fitness accessories.

We’re well into 2022 and still Aldi is rolling out exercise equipment such as ellipticals, dumbbells, and workout benches at a high rate. This might be in part because of supply chain snarls and shipping delays that continue to plague retailers all over the world. It could be good news for Aldi shoppers who are hopping onto the fitness bandwagon a little later in the year because it means you haven’t missed your chance to score some deals on exercise gear.

Most recently, Aldi is offering a Pro-Form treadmill that is different from the one it sold in 2021. Aldi is also selling a Pro-Form workout bench … and this comes only a week after Aldi sold a different workout bench under the Weider brand name.

Here, we’re taking at look at the Pro-Form workout bench.

What We Know:

The Pro-Form Sport Olympic System XT (Product Code: 705941) cost $169.99 in April of 2022. While you can find workout benches for less, this price is competitive with benches that have the same features. Other outlets sell this specific bench for the same price, including Dick’s Sporting Goods and Best Buy. (No, we didn’t know that Best Buy sold workout equipment, either.)

This is an Aldi Find, which means it’s only in stores for a short time. Aldi does not offer online ordering for its specials if they’re not in stock at your local store.

ProForm is an exercise equipment brand owned by Icon Health and Fitness in Utah. (The Aldi product listing calls it “Pro-Form” but the company uses both “Pro-Form” and “ProForm” on its website.) Icon was formerly known as Weslo, and some stores still sell Weslo-branded equipment. Other Icon brands include Gold’s Gym and NordicTrack.

This is one of several ProForm products we’ve seen at Aldi. In 2020, Aldi sold the ProForm 205 CST Smart Treadmill. In 2021, Aldi sold the ProForm 505 SPX Indoor Cycle. Then in 2022, Aldi sold the Pro-Form Sport E2.0 Smart Elliptical.

To the best of our knowledge, Aldi has not previously sold a workout bench by ProForm.

Here’s more information about the workout bench system, according to Aldi:

• Integrated leg developer builds lower-body strength
• Fixed uprights provide a secure place to store your barbell in between sets

• Seamlessly adjust bench to target diff­erent muscle groups
• 510 lb. total weight capacity (300 lb. user + lift load)
• 42” W x 79” D x 55” H

Since the bench has released, a number of shoppers on social media have reported that, contrary to the Aldi ad, it does not come with weights — in other words, that part is allegedly a misprint. Also note that the bench does not come with a barbell.

What We Don’t Know:

We haven’t tried this system, so we don’t know how easy it is to assemble, how well it works, or how sturdy or durable it is. We write open threads so readers can share about their own experiences with a product.
