You never know what new Advent calendars will pop up on the shelves at Aldi with each passing year. In 2018, we were introduced to wine and cheese calendars. In 2019, we saw the addition of a beer calendar and dog treat calendar, and in 2020, coffee, cat treats, and crafts were added to the lineup. In 2021, a luxury chocolate calendar and a gnome calendar were among the new additions.
Also this year, we saw Aldi sell Advent calendars with themes related to two popular Christmas movies: A Christmas Story and Elf.
What We Know:
The Warner Bros A Christmas Story Advent Calendar.
The Warner Bros Elf Advent Calendar.
The Warner Bros Elf Advent Calendar and A Christmas Story Advent Calendar each cost $29.99. These calendars arrived at Aldi later than all the rest of their Advent calendars, showing up not on November 3rd but instead during the week of November 17th.
These are Aldi Finds, which means they’re only in stores for a short time. Aldi does not offer online ordering for its specials after they sell out at your local store. However, these calendars are not exclusive to Aldi, and you may be able to find them at other retailers. For example, we spotted the Elf Advent Calendar at both Walmart and Amazon, and we found the Christmas Story Advent Calendar on Amazon as well. But you’ll probably pay a lot more for these calendars at other retailers.
Both calendars feature 24 days of 1-inch stylized, posed collectible figures behind little doors, with one door for each day from December 1st through December 24th. Each calendar also features a pop-up display for showcasing each day’s figures.

The Christmas Story Advent Calendar includes but is not limited to:

What We Don’t Know:
We have not yet purchased these Advent calendars, so we don’t know how well made they are or how well designed the calendars are. Our goal with open thread posts such as this one is to offer a space for readers to share about their experience with a product.
