Aldi’s vegan product line, Earth Grown, continues to roll out new choices. The newest product is oat-based ice cream, a non-dairy frozen dessert.

Earth Grown Non Dairy Oat Based Pints

The Earth Grown Non-Dairy Oat-Based Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert Pints should hit Aldi stores August 28th. They are ALDI Finds (Special Buys), which means they will be in stores for a short time only. These frozen desserts are 16 ounces and sold for $2.99 at the time of publication. They come in three flavors: chocolate, vanilla cookie chip, and cold brew.

Earth Grown Non Dairy Oat Based Pints

Aldi sold vegan ice cream last year that was almond milk-based, so this oat milk-based ice cream is a new thing all together. It’s fun to see a unique flavor with the vanilla cookie chip option, too.

Food & Wine says oat milk is currently a big trend among non-dairy options. Aldi’s oat milk ice cream will be competing against other companies that sell oat milk products, including So Delicious and Oatly.

Oat milk is made by soaking oats in water, then blending and straining them for a milk that, according to Food & Wine, is creamier than many nut-based milks.

Nutritionists warn that just because oat milk ice cream sounds healthy, it’s still an indulgent dessert with potentially as many calories as a serving of Haagen-Daazs ice cream, according to MarketWatch. So try not to eat the whole container by yourself in one sitting.

Whether you are vegan, lactose intolerant, or just enjoy trying new and different foods, Aldi’s oat milk-based frozen dessert looks like it’s worth a try. We’re looking forward to picking up a few pints when they hit store shelves.

  1. Aldi has never had any of the ice cream alternatives in any of the stores I have been in – the employee told me that buyers take large quantities of it at a time – maybe they should stock more. It would be 50% cheaper than a similar product at Tops Market. I’d love to try it.

    • Jane, this particular ice cream is not scheduled to be in my local Aldi stores until August 28th. That could be why you have not seen it in your store.

  2. What are the ingredients for this oat based ice cream?

    • We just got a hold of some of the oat milk ice cream today, so now we know the ingredients. For the chocolate flavor, they are: oatmilk, tapioca syrup solids, coconut oil, dextrose, agave nectar, cane sugar, chicory root extract, maltodextrin, cocoa, Himalayan salt, sunflower lecithin, pea protein, natural flavor, carob gum, and citric acid. Keep an eye out for a full review of the oat milk ice cream coming soon.

      • So, four different types of sugar and “natural flavors” which is often code for MSG or high fructose corn syrup. It’s an option for those of us who are non-dairy but it’s not to be mistaken for healthy! I wonder if the manufacturer has revealed what the natural flavors are.

        • Yeah, these vegan ice creams tend to have some less desirable ingredients compared to quality dairy-based ice cream. We saw the same thing with the almond milk non-dairy ice cream Aldi sold last year; it was highly processed. You are spot on in describing it as a non-dairy option but not something to be considered healthy.

  3. Ice cream is a treat, and should be eaten as such. As they stated in this article, “it’s till an indulgent dessert…so try not to eat the whole container in one sitting.”

  4. This is so delicious, when the Aldi’s in my town is sold out, I drive to the next town to stock up. I am lactose intolerant and injoy this sooooo much.
