Aldi stocks a pretty fun middle aisle during the winter holiday months. From cool décor to toys galore, I think you could make a pretty legitimate Christmas out of just what Aldi puts out each November and December.
The grocer, of course, is known mostly for its own brands, but Aldi expands many of its name brand and licensed fare in the weeks before December 25th. Barbie, Transformers, Marvel, Paw Patrol, L.O.L. Surprise!, and A Christmas Story are just some of the many familiar faces that appear. Over the years, I’ve been able to both pick up a few things for the kids and — just maybe — relive my own childhood sometimes, too.
Star Wars has been an ever-present theme among the others. Through the years, we’ve seen everything from Star Wars kid’s shirts to Baby Yoda earbuds and power banks, and it’s always fun to see Aldi drop new stuff from a galaxy far, far away. This year, Aldi is back with more Star Wars merchandise as part of a larger lineup of sleep sets.
We grabbed one.
The simply named Men’s Sleep Set (Product Code: 701865) is an Aldi Find, which means you can only find it in stores for a short time. Once it’s gone, it’s gone. At the time of this post, the sleep set costs $12.99. That’s a great price, especially for a licensed set. I shopped around at several big box stores and clothing retailers and couldn’t find anything close to this price, even on sale.
This year, Aldi is selling three versions: a National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation set, a Home Alone set, and a Star Wars Mandalorian-themed set. The Christmas Vacation set comes in sizes M-XXL, while the Star Wars and Home Alone versions are available in sizes S-XL. The sets are manufactured by Mad Engine, a California-based company that makes both licensed apparel and branded clothing. The box says my set is made in China.
The Star Wars set comes with a short-sleeved t-shirt along with pajama pants. The t-shirt is 60% cotton and 40% polyester, and it feels like your standard print t-shirt. The pajama pants are 100% polyester and have the soft, fluffy feel you might associate with fleece. (Fleece is typically made out of polyester.)
The packaging says they should be machine washed inside-out in cold water with like colors. You should use only non-chlorine bleach when needed, and these should be tumble dried on low heat and should not be ironed.
I’m pleased to report that the set fits and feels the way I would hope it to. I wear medium-sized clothes, and the medium shirt and pants both fit me well. The t-shirt is suitably soft and the print isn’t too thick or stiff. The pajama pants are soft and warm and have a drawstring to adjust the beltline if you need to.
And these pajamas look fun. The shirt has a printed Grogu (or The Child, or Baby Yoda, or whatever you want to call him) wrapped in lights below a Star Wars logo. The pants boast a spread of Star Wars logos, lights, and, of course, more Grogus.

If there’s any negative, it’s that the shirt is lighter weight while the pants are a thicker fleece. It’s possible you might end up feeling a little warm in the legs and / or colder in the upper body. I personally prefer flannel pants to fleece in most cases, so I might swap out the pants for some others I already own while keeping the shirt. Likewise, if I was really cold I probably would add a long-sleeved sleep shirt to go with the fleece pants.
As for how long the pajamas will last? We’ll see. But the build quality feels pretty good. I’ll update this post if there are any quality issues down the road.
The Verdict:
The Aldi licensed Men’s Sleep Set is a festive way to dress up for those holiday mornings, and at a nice price. Both the shirt and the pajama pants have a nice stylized look, and both are comfortable, although personal tastes may vary, especially on the fleece pants. I really liked the Star Wars set, but if you’re a fan of Christmas Vacation or Home Alone, Aldi sells those, too.
