As a father of two kids, I figured I was pretty up-to-date on outdoor kids equipment. We’ve taken our kids to many playgrounds over the years, and I’ve purchased and set up a swingset and other standalone kids gear around our yard.

One thing I hadn’t heard of before? A swurfboard. At least not until Aldi announced it was selling one in the summer of 2022.

A swurfboard — or swingboard, as some people call it — is a surfboard-shaped accessory that is attached to rope swings. Unlike a traditional swingset that involves sitting on a swing, a swingboard involves standing on a board and moving back and forth. In that way, it draws its inspiration from a surfboard. The company Swurfer, which was purchased by pogo stick maker Flybar in 2017, claims to have dreamed up the idea, and today there are a handful of swingboard makers out there.

Leave it to Aldi to sell its own branded version under its Bee Happy kids label.

What We Know:

Bee Happy Swurfboard

The Bee Happy Swurfboard (Product Code: 706466) is an Aldi Find. Each store will get just one shipment, and once it’s sold out, you won’t be able to find it in stores again until it comes back, assuming it does come back at all. Aldi doesn’t ship products online, so if you can’t find it in your local store, you won’t be able to get it.

This product appears to be new to Aldi in 2022. We’ve never seen the grocer sell one before.

At the time of this post, the Swurfboard costs $49.99. For comparison, the original Swurfer currently costs $129.99. I was able to find some generic imitations online for the same price as the Aldi board, but nothing lower. So the price, it seems, is competitive.

According to Aldi, features include the following:

  • Made from 100% oakwood
  • Includes a carrying bag, tree straps, locking carabiners, rope and handles
  • Swing can hold up to 200 lb.
  • Ages 8+

What We Don’t Know:

We haven’t tried out this swingboard, so we don’t know how easily it sets up, how smoothly it works, or how long it holds up, especially under the elements. We’ve created this open thread for shoppers to share their thoughts.
