Aldi Warranties: Visage Pro Series Electric Rotary Shaver

When I first reviewed the Visage Pro Series Electric Razor, I noted that razor blades for an electric razor eventually need to be replaced. The problem is the cost of the blades often runs more than the razor itself. Nevertheless, after a lot of use I decided it was time to see if it was possible to replace the blades. (Technically 1 1/2 years is a pretty excessive time frame for rotary blades, but I have a second rotary razor I was also using.)

Keep in mind that this razor does have a 3-year warranty.

The contact e-mail for the razor was service@801service.net, a common warranty service company for Aldi products. I e-mailed the company on Saturday, June 1, 2019, with the following:

Hi,

I purchased the Visage Rotary Electric Shaver from Aldi back in December of 2017. I was wondering if there was a way to get replacement blades for the razor.

I did not identify myself as a blogger. As far as they know, I’m just an ordinary consumer.

I heard back from the company on the following Monday, June 3, with this reply:

Hi Josh,

I’m sorry, but we do not have any replacement blades. If you have any other questions, let us know.

The sender’s e-mail signature indicated the company that services the e-mail is called EuroCentra.

That same day, I replied with this message:

Thank you for getting back to me. A quick follow-up question. The razor has a 3-year warranty. Is it possible to get a replacement razor under the warranty for the worn blades?

I heard back shortly after that with this reply:

Hi Josh,

While it does have a 3 year warranty, I can only send out replacement razor if there is a problem with the item. If that happens, you would need to send in the warranty card that came in the user manual.

The implication, as I saw it, is that there needs to be a problem with the item, and worn blades may not necessarily constitute a problem, although I wouldn’t know unless I sent in the warranty card.

At this point, I had a couple of options. One, I could have tried to send in the warranty card to see what happened, which may have involved shipping the entire product back. Two, I could have contacted Aldi customer service, which we’ve found to be very helpful, although I couldn’t be sure they would be able to solve the problem, especially given the age of the product.

Given the hassle, I decided to do neither.

The Verdict:

The Visage Pro Series Electric Rotary Shaver is a pretty good shaver, and it worked well. Unfortunately, it had a simple problem that all razors inevitably have — the blades wore out — and there was no solution to that problem available from the manufacturer

To be fair, rotary razors are often semi-disposable, since the replacement blades can cost more than the razor itself. And this razor is pretty cheap to begin with. More than a few consumers would probably just toss a razor like this one and perhaps buy another.

It would have been nice to have a choice, though. As it is, the Visage Rotary Shaver is best seen as a throwaway razor, since the company does not sell or otherwise provide replacement blades.

    It was very enlightening to hear your review regarding this electric shaver and replacement blades. The first thought was after purchasing this shaver is if we can get replacement blades for it. My husband used this shaver and thinks it is more superior than other brands. For the price it is worth paying and then tossing like a disposable, so we purchased 3 which should last for years.

    Thank-you for your ‘honest’ review. I have Two questions , 1. if you bought one of these ‘Visage’ shavers from ALDI and it becomes faulty, I was told by a staff member ( when they were on sale in-store ,awhile back) , that you just bring it back to the store for a refund under the warranty period. Is this correct ? , and 2. if you choose a replacement ,is this available from the store ,or do you have to send it back to a ‘service agent ‘ , and if so who pays for the shipping costs .

    • 1. I didn’t try that. I suppose you could — I’m not sure — although I wouldn’t feel comfortable doing it myself.

      2. The only way to get a replacement would be to ship it back to the warranty company. The local store doesn’t handle those.

  5. Joshua, I just purchased the visage Rotary Shaver from Aldi. In the user manual that came with the shaver. There looks to be a order form that you can order replacement parts. There are 3 things you can order from:

    There are no explanation for the pictures of parts you can order. But it looks like 1 item is the shaving head. The next item appears to be the blades. The last item that you can order is the charger. All items are $5.00, price per unit. With $2.00 shipping costs.
    I have not tried to order any of these items, as my razor is new. I am just passing along the information!

      I dropped by Aldi earlier today and picked up the new rotary razor. I didn’t expect much difference from the old one … imagine my surprise to find that order form in the middle. (With very reasonable prices compared to what I normally pay for replacement blades.) I’m pretty excited.

      I can’t wait to try this new razor out, and I’ll write a new review of it before too long.

  10. I tried a Norelco Shave 2100 blade and the blades fit fine but the part that attached is not the same width. Sorry.

  11. I was able to exchange the blades themselves from my Norelco Shave 2100 with the blades that came with the Aldi shaver. Success. I like the Aldi better because the blades go around faster than the Norelco.

    I bought one about 18 months ago.I now know there are no replacement blades.
    Can you tell me when Aldi will sell this Visage shaver again?

  14. 40 years ago I worked with a guy who serviced Philishave’s. He always sharpened them by putting Brasso on the heads and ran the shaver for a while. From memory, he used to put some Brasso in a tin lid then put the shaver heads in the Brasso and switched it on! I can’t remember how long he ran the shaver for. Of course after doing this, the heads needed to be cleaned. I think he used hot soapy water. Good luck! And I take no responsibility for any consequences!!
