Appetitos Buffalo Style Chicken and Philly Cheesesteak Mini Spring Rolls

Aldi can be a fantastic store to pick up unique appetizers and frozen savory snacks. Some of my family’s favorites over the years have included macaroni and cheese bites, bacon-wrapped scallops, taco cups, everything franks in a blanket, pretzel bites, cheese sticks, and southwestern rolls.

One of the more recent products to show up at Aldi were these mini spring rolls in buffalo chicken or Philly cheesesteak flavors. These are sold under the Appetitos Aldi private label, which encompasses appetizer-style foods. I bought a box of each mini spring roll variety to try.

Appetitos Mini Spring Rolls

Appetitos Mini Spring Rolls cost $4.99 for an 8-ounce box at the time of publication. When they’re in stock at your local store, you’ll find them in the freezer aisle.

These are an Aldi Find, which means they’re only in stores for a short time. Each store gets just one shipment, and after that sells out, they’re gone unless Aldi decides to bring them back at some point. Aldi does not offer online ordering for products that aren’t in stock at your local store.

The boxes have directions for baking these in a conventional oven or air frying them.

To bake, preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Place frozen spring rolls one inch apart on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Place the baking sheet on the middle rack in the oven. Bake for 12-15 minutes. Let cool for 3 minutes before serving.

To air fry, preheat the air fryer to 325 degrees. Place frozen spring rolls one inch apart on the air fryer rack. Bake for 6 minutes, carefully flip the rolls over, and air fry for an additional 6 minutes. Let cool for 3 minutes before serving.

I opted to heat these in my air fryer. My fryer doesn’t have a temperature setting for 325 degrees, so I set it to 330 degrees. After heating them for 6 minutes and flipping them, I heated them for only an additional 5 minutes because the filling from the Philly Cheesesteak spring rolls was starting to ooze out.

These are not health foods by any means. They have their share of calories, carbs, sodium, fat, and processed ingredients, but I kind of expect that when I buy frozen appetizers. They’re a food to enjoy once in a while. If you want healthier spring rolls, you’ll want to make them yourself.

The box describes these as “brined chicken with buffalo style seasoning in spring roll wrapper.”

These have that classic buffalo chicken flavor with a hint of kick but not too spicy. They’re good on their own or with some ranch dressing for dip. The wrapper is crispy, and while these could perhaps use a little more buffalo chicken filling, they taste pretty good.

Some of the filling began to ooze out of these while they were in the air fryer, but they were still good.

The box describes these as “formed and sliced steak, cheese and onion in a spring roll wrapper.”

These have a nice crispy wrapper similar to their buffalo chicken sibling. The steak and cheese filling has a good flavor, and there is a decent amount of filling, even though these started to ooze a minute or two before the air fryer timer went off. In the future, I’ll air fry these for 6 minutes, flip them, and air fry for just another 4 minutes or so.

The Verdict:

Appetitos Mini Spring Rolls come in buffalo style chicken or Philly cheesesteak flavors, and they’re both good. The buffalo chicken spring rolls aren’t too spicy, and both varieties make for a good snack, lunch, or tasty appetizer at a party.
