Baker’s Corner 100% Pure Pumpkin (and Pumpkin Pie Recipe)

Last Updated on October 9, 2023

EDITOR’S NOTE: Updated September 2020 with price and updated can label.

The holidays are coming, and many home chefs will be using canned pumpkin to make pies, breads, puddings, and more treats. Many will use Aldi’s Special Buy Baker’s Corner 100% Pure Pumpkin.

Baker's Corner 100% Pure Pumpkin

Baker’s Corner 100% Pure Pumpkin costs 85 cents for a 15-oz. can.

It’s a Seasonal Favorite, which means it’s in stores for a couple of months during the holiday baking season, usually showing up sometime in September.

I’ve been purchasing these cans of pumpkin from Aldi for several years now, sometimes to make pumpkin pie and often to make pumpkin bread. My bread turns out moist and flavorful, and my family enjoys slices of pumpkin bread topped with a dollop of whipped cream.

Nutrition information and ingredients. (Click to enlarge.)

As the title indicates, the can contains only pumpkin and no other ingredients.

This canned pumpkin states it makes one 9-inch pie, is fat free with no preservatives, and is a “good source of fiber.” The pumpkin also is, naturally, gluten free.

When my youngest daughter wanted to try her hand at making pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving, we found the recipe on the can to be convenient and tasty, and it’s made with ingredients that can all be purchased at Aldi (although some of the spices may be seasonal and only at Aldi during the fall and winter holidays).

Here’s the recipe on the can:

Pumpkin Pie

Ingredients:

1 can (15 oz.) Baker’s Corner Pumpkin

3/4 cup sugar

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon ginger

1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

2 eggs

1 can (12 fl. oz.) Baker’s Corner evaporated milk

1 unbaked 9″ pastry shell

Whipped cream (optional)

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 425 degrees.

Mix sugar, cinnamon, salt, ginger, and nutmeg in a small bowl. Beat eggs in a large bowl. Stir in pumpkin and sugar-spice mixture. Gradually stir in evaporated milk.

Pour into pastry shell.

Bake at 425 degrees for 15 minutes. Reduce temperature to 350 degrees; bake for 40 to 50 minutes or until knife inserted near center comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack for 2 hours. Serve immediately or refrigerate. Top with whipped cream before serving.

Thoughts:

Baker's Corner All Natural 100% Pure Pumpkin

Our pumpkin pie made using all Aldi ingredients.

Aldi’s canned pumpkin makes a good, authentic pumpkin pie, and the recipe included on the can is solid. My family enjoyed our pumpkin pie, and my mother-in law declared that this pie recipe is better than a name-brand Tippin’s pumpkin pie. We also topped our pie with plenty of whipped cream in a can from Aldi because (who are we kidding?) that’s the best part of pumpkin pie.

The Verdict:

Aldi’s Baker’s Corner 100% Pure Pumpkin in a can is a Seasonal Favorite product that works well for pumpkin pie, pumpkin bread, and all your holiday baking needs. Recommended.

  1. Can I use Graham cracker crust the same as regular pie crust?

  2. I have made this recipe with Splenda and no pie crust and turns out really good and tasty. I did reduce the spice to 1/4 teaspoon and added 1/4 teaspoon of cloves and 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda.

Diabetic in family loved it. Also use this pumpkin for other recipes including gluten free bread…awesome.

  3. I have bought their canned pumpkin many times with no problems. Then last fall (2018), I bought two cans. They had the word Golden printed on the top of the can. When I opened them, the contents poured out (ketchup consistency) and the color was a gold color – not a pumpkin orange. I wasn’t sure what it was so I tossed the contents. I had another can purchased in Dec 2018 – it was fine. What do you think is going on?

    • That is strange and not something I’ve ever experienced. I bought three or four cans of pumpkin from Aldi in the fall of 2018 with no problems. I don’t remember if the cans had the “golden” marking on them. You can always return a product if you open it and find something about it does not seem right.

  4. When will the solid canned pumpkin come back to Aldi? I have not seen it since last fall.

    • It’s usually in stores during the fall season.

    • I always use the Aldi pumpkin pie recipe on the can of pumpkin. They come out delicious every time! And I like the rolled pie crusts! I’ve gotten compliments and I always say “love my Aldi’s”. I just hope, now that the chain is growing, that they don’t change too much. I’ve already noticed some prices going up. I wish there was a Super Aldi: that would keep some of the “seasonal” things all year round.
I miss the S’mores trail mix they had years ago and the ginger peach black tea.

  5. The canned pumpkin I bought yesterday at Aldo’s shows 0 % of vitamin A. What happened? This used to be a great source of vitamin A!

    • Looks like the nutrition information has changed, although I’m not sure why since pumpkin is still the only listed ingredient. This post has been edited to reflect the label change.

Can I add a can of 100% pumpkin in a box of jello no bake cheese

  7. Girl, you are my HERO!!! THIS IS THE BEST Pumpkin pie recipe ever! So easy and delicious.

Can this canned pumpkin pure be eaten straight from the can, is it pre-cooked? I thinking of experimenting a little by adding some to my morning oatmeal. Could I spread it on toast?

  9. Why does Aldo not carry pumpkin purée all year long? I use it all year as a supplier for my dogs diet. I would like to know if I can buy it somewhere else.
    Thank you

  10. I used the Aldi canned pumpkin for the first time this year. The pie I made was the best pumpkin pie ever. Much smoother and tastier than the well-known canned pumpkin brand. I plan to buy several more cans to use for baking throughout the holidays.

    • Glad your pie turned out well. I made pumpkin pie with Aldi’s canned pumpkin again this year, and it’s always a winner. Definitely something to stock up on.

  11. My favorite pumpkin pie recipe … I use this every year!!! 😍

  12. Where is the expiration date on these Baker’s Corner canned pumpkin? I have a 15 oz can I don’t see any date. I THINK I bought it last season, but not 100% sure. Thank You

    • It keeps just fine for YEARS as does most canned foods. Those “best by” dates are complete nonsense.

    • I still have a can of this pumpkin that I bought in the fall of 2021 and it has a best-by date sometime in 2024, so you’re probably fine. I found the date on the bottom of the can.

  13. What spices are in the Baker’s Corner Easy Pumpkin Pie Mix. By mistake I picked up the mix in place of the plain pumpkin. Thought I might need to add some additional spices.
    Thank you

    • I just did the same oops myself today and why I ended up here. I googled for the spices and haven’t found the answer but I’m guessing it has cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger and I’m going to add some cloves since the recipe for their pumpkin puree doesn’t call for it. I like cloves in my pumpkin pies.
