Benton’s Caramel Apple Crémes

If it’s not clear by now: fall has turned into a cult. Fall foods and decor are everywhere. Pumpkin spice is in everything — everything. And apple everything isn’t far behind: apple pie, apple cider, even fried apples.

Caramel apples are one of those fall apple staples. They’re what we associate with county fairs and kids. And while you can make your own caramel apples easily enough, Aldi has taken that taste and shoved into an Oreo-style cookie. That’s something you can’t make at home nearly as easily.

Benton's Caramel Apple Crémes

Benton’s Caramel Apple Crémes are an Aldi Find, which means they’re only in stores for a limited time. At the time of this post, a 15.25-ounce, 30-cookie package costs $1.89. That comes out to about 12.3 cents an ounce, or about 6.3 cents a cookie.

If you have any food allergies, be sure to pay close attention to the packaging, as the cookies contain soy, wheat, and may also contain eggs, milk, tree nuts (pecans, almonds, and coconut), and peanuts. Also, these are a dessert, which means a full bag has more sugar than you probably want to eat in one sitting.

A two-cookie serving has 140 calories, 7 grams of total fat (9% DV), 2 grams of saturated fat (10% DV), 75 mg of sodium (3% DV), 21 grams of total carbohydrates (8% DV), and 12 grams of added sugars (24% DV).

We liked them. They smell like caramel apples, and they taste like a vanilla cookie with a caramel apple flavored creme, just like the name says. The cookie is firm without being too hard, and the cream in the middle is soft without being too soft. They’re just good.

The Verdict:

If you can’t get enough of fall foods, these apple crémes are a fun twist on fall foods. They’ve got both a good taste and a good texture, all coming together to make a tasty fall treat. Get them while they’re in stores.
