Benton’s Hot Cocoa Crémes

Oreo cookies are classic. They’re great for snacking, for dipping in milk, and for adding to all kinds of desserts such as cheesecake, ice cream, milkshakes, and pudding.

Aldi sells its own version of Oreos, and they’re pretty good, in our opinion. Aldi also rotates different seasonal sandwich cookies through its shelves at various times of year, including pumpkin spice sandwich cookies and caramel apple sandwich cookies during the fall. During the winter holidays, Aldi sells a hot cocoa sandwich cookie.

Benton’s Hot Cocoa Crémes cost $1.95 for a 15.25-oz. package at the time of publication.

These are an Aldi Find (Special Buy), so they’re only in stores for a short time. Aldi doesn’t offer online ordering for its specials, so once these sell out at your local store, they’re gone.

I purchased a package of these cookies after a friend recommended them. Their flavor really is reminiscent of a cup of hot cocoa topped with marshmallows. They feature two classic crisp chocolate cookies with a chocolatey filling that has distinct notes of marshmallow flavoring. I like the combination of the crunchy cookies and the very soft fluffy filling, and these cookies got a thumbs up from most of the people in my house.

The Verdict:

Benton’s Hot Cocoa Crémes are like Oreo cookies but with a filling that really does taste like a mug of hot chocolate topped with marshmallows. The crispy chocolate cookies and soft cocoa filling with marshmallow flavoring make a good pairing. Perfect for eating on their own, or for dunking in cold milk or even a cup of hot cocoa.
