These are small pita-style sandwiches, similar to a breakfast sandwich Aldi sells sometimes. The Angus cheeseburger sandwiches are described as “100% Angus beef burger & American cheese in a fresh-baked pita pocket,” while the chicken melts are described as “oven-roasted breaded chicken breast patty & American cheese in a fresh-baked pita pocket.”

The sandwiches sold for $4.99 for a box of six at the time of publication. They are not available all the time at Aldi, so get them while you can. The chicken melts sandwiches come in a 15-oz. box, and the Angus cheeseburger sandwiches are in a 13.5-oz. box. Both are quick and easy to prepare, with directions for heating in the microwave.

My family enjoyed these sandwiches for lunch. They are small, so you might want to heat up two of them, or have some other sides like fruit, chips, or a salad. Or you might appreciate the fact that portions are small, so you can enjoy the taste of a cheeseburger without all the calories. We thought the sandwiches were fine as they are, but some people might want to dip them in ketchup or another condiment. Some family members thought the sandwiches were slightly chewy, but that didn’t stop anyone from eating them all up, and a little chewiness is to be expected with pita bread and with some microwaved food.

The chicken melts sandwich has lightly breaded chicken and has a saltier flavor compared to the Angus cheeseburger; and, in fact, the chicken melts sandwich has more sodium at 475 mg per serving versus 340 mg per serving for the Angus cheeseburger. Both sandwiches contain 160 calories per serving, 30 mg of cholesterol, and 8 to 9 g of total fat.

I don’t often buy highly processed food like these pita pockets, but they do make for a nice treat occasionally, especially if you want to have a hot lunch at work or school and you have access to a microwave. They can’t be beat in terms of how quick and easy it is to heat these up.

The Verdict:

The ALDI Find Bremer Classic Handheld Angus Cheeseburger Flatbread Pocket Sandwiches and Bremer Classic Handheld Chicken Melts Flatbread Pocket Sandwiches make for a quick lunch or snack. They are not the healthiest food, but they heat easily in the microwave in less than a minute, and they have good flavor.

  1. Any product that is similar to these should have directions on how to make it in the oven also, not just microwaving instructions. Anyone with even just a little bit of common sense knows that in the oven is the best way to go when preparing any food like that.

    • I tried heating the Bremer angus cheeseburger in the oven thinking it would be more tastier than heating it up in the microwave, bad choice. The box says microwave, follow the directions they heat up almost like a White Castle burger( the Pita bread gets a little tough). I enjoyed the burger just wish it were on a White Castle bun.

  2. Love the Angus beef patty cheeseburger. Would love to have more. When available in the Greenville/Taylors/Easley areas?

  3. These were not terrible. HOWEVER, they are VERY deceptive. On the cover they show what look like 1 burger, cut in half, and they say there are 6. In reality, there are 6 HALVES.

  4. The Bremer Angus Beef patty cheeseburgers were so bad tasting that my husband threw them in the garbage. And we usually don’t throw away food.

  5. I found a miracle food for my preferences, at Aldi’s! They are breakfast melts that are like a half-pita pocket. It is filled with cheese and egg, or cheese with a chicken schnitzel, or a half beef burger. It microwaves in its plastic for a minute, and helps me get calories down early in the morning while my eyes are still closed. The chicken is amazing (haven’t tried the beef)
