Choceur Assorted Belgian Chocolate Pumpkins

Aldi introduced a product this fall that I don’t think I’ve seen before on the store’s shelves: cute little chocolate pumpkins. They’re not just any chocolate pumpkins. These have an artisan-crafted look, with sculpted details and a range of colors. They’re eye catching, and they taste as good as they look.

Choceur Belgian Chocolate Pumpkins

Aldi’s Choceur Assorted Belgian Chocolate Pumpkins were $2.99 at the time of publication for a 4.23-oz. package that contains nine chocolate pumpkins. They are ALDI Finds (Special Buys), which means they’ll only be in stores a short time and then they’ll be gone.

The chocolate is a product of Belgium and is made with UTZ certified cocoa. The pumpkins come in five flavors: the beige-colored pumpkins are vanilla cream, orange pumpkins are crispy milk chocolate cream, dark brown pumpkins are dark chocolate cream, medium brown pumpkins are salted caramel, and white pumpkins are coffee ganache.

Each box contains just over 4 servings, with two pumpkins constituting one serving. A single serving will net you 150 calories, 9 grams of total fat (11% of your daily value), 5 grams of saturated fat (25% DV), less than 5 mg of cholesterol (1% DV), 15 mg of sodium (1% DV), 15 grams of total carbohydrates (6% DV), 14 grams of sugars, 13 grams of added sugars (27% DV), and 2 grams of protein.

The ingredient list is long, but some of the primary ingredients include white chocolate, milk chocolate, and dark chocolate. The list also includes processed ingredients such as soy lecithin and glucose syrup. Natural flavoring also makes the list, unfortunately but not surprisingly. In keeping with Aldi’s commitment to avoid artificial colors, though, these pumpkins get their colors from ingredients such as beetroot extract and paprika extract.

For people concerned about allergens, these contain milk, soy, wheat, and tree nuts (coconut), and they may contain eggs or other tree nuts.

Taste wise, these little pumpkins are good. They have creamy fillings (though not as smooth as truffles), and each one has a distinct flavor. At around 33 cents per pumpkin, they’re not the cheapest chocolate around, but they’re not the most expensive either. They’re probably best reserved as a treat or for a special occasion.

The Verdict:

Aldi’s Choceur Assorted Belgian Chocolate Pumpkins are a real fall treat. They taste as good as they look, but they are a little on the pricey side. They’re worth trying if you’re a chocolate aficionado.
