Choceur Bite Size Milk Chocolate Creamy Peanut Butter Cups

EDITOR’S NOTE: Aldi’s peanut butter cups have changed. You can read about the new formula of peanut butter cups currently in stores here.

Peanuts and chocolate are, to me, pretty much the power couple of sweets. Whether it’s Butterfinger bars, Peanut M&Ms, or just about anything by Reese’s — Peanut Butter Cups, Pieces, you name it — I rarely meet a combination of the two that I don’t like. That’s not to say that they’re cheap, or good for me, but when I’m looking for the perfect dessert, I pretty much can’t go wrong with the peanut-chocolate pair.

Choceur is the “upscale” sweets label for Aldi, specializing primarily in all things chocolate. Some of the label’s products are Special Buys (ALDI Finds), while others are Regular Buys. This little brown bag is a Regular Buy.

Choceur Bite Size Milk Chocolate Creamy Peanut Butter Cups (wow, that’s a mouthful) come in a resealable plastic bag. They are small cups, with a chocolate coating and a peanut butter core, wrapped in one of those familiar black wrappings that you see on, say, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.

I have two observations about these Aldi versions:

  1. They are not the same as Reese’s.
  2. They’re good, if not great, on their own merits.

Now, I happen to really like Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, but if you don’t, you may take a different view of things. That said, I don’t think these are quite as good. They taste slightly different, and they also have a smoother texture that you may or may not care about. It’s hard to describe the taste difference, exactly, except to say that it feels maybe a little more like regular peanut butter. That may actually be a plus for some people, but I don’t know that they will automatically fool people into thinking they’re the name brand when they’re not.

The Verdict:

They’re not a perfect rendition of the bigger names, but the Choceur take on peanut butter cups does a decent impersonation of the popular sweet. If you like Reese’s and you’re looking to try a cheap alternative, they’re worth a look.

  1. I am greatly upset that the Aldi store in Martinsburg, WV is no longer carrying this product. I was told the they will not carry it anymore. Is there anyway that this can be changed. I am very upset over this matter. Please continue to carry these peanut butter cups in this area.

  2. I just tried these and i actually rate them above Reeses.. They are smoother the pnb is smoother and over all they are really good.. i think the choc is better as well. The entire Choceur line rocks and it’s better than any other store brand choc by a wide margin.

Try the Lacey cookies, but be prepared i think it’s more addictive than fentenol. Really
