Valentine’s Day is approaching. For some people that means giving gifts of flowers or plants, pink stuffed animals, or jewelry. Other people might plan special dinners such as steak or lobster tails. Still other people might pick up a box of chocolates to give to their special someone.
Aldi sells name-brand candy such as Dove and Reese’s for Valentine’s Day, but the grocer also sells several boxes of chocolates under its private label Choceur brand. The largest box of chocolates Aldi is selling this year is the Choceur Chocolate Assortment.
The Choceur Chocolate Assortment cost $9.99 at the time of publication. This is the priciest box of chocolates at Aldi this year, but it’s also the biggest, with about 57 pieces of chocolate. If that’s too much chocolate for you, Aldi sells smaller boxes of different chocolates for $3.99 or even as low as $1.99.
The Choceur Chocolate Assortment is an Aldi Find, which means it’s only in stores for a short time. Aldi does not offer online ordering for its specials, so once this sells out at your local store, it’s gone.
This chocolate box is a product of Poland and is made with Rainforest Alliance certified cocoa, which promotes social, economic, and environmental sustainability.
The chocolates, unboxed.
There are nine different chocolate flavors in this box, and all our made with milk chocolate — no dark chocolate here. Here’s a list of the flavors, plus some descriptions of each:
- Salted caramel heart — a heart-shaped chocolate with a thin caramel sauce inside. Very salty but doesn’t have any large salt crystals.
- Vanilla caramel stick — a long chocolate piece with a chewy nougat-like filling flavored with caramel and vanilla.
- Strawberry cream — easily the prettiest, most ornate-looking chocolate in the box, this is a strawberry-shaped chocolate filled with a brown-ish strawberry liquid-like filling that is a little like the filling inside those classic strawberry hard candies.
- Milk chocolate truffle — a classic chocolate shell filled with smooth, creamy chocolate filling. Perfect if you don’t like exotic or unusual filled chocolates.
- Hazelnut cream — contains a whole hazelnut surrounded by a small amount of chocolate cream.
- Orange truffle — this chocolate is shaped like an orange slice and filled with smooth, orange-flavored chocolate cream.
- Vanilla truffle surprise — a milk chocolate shell with a white and strongly vanilla-flavored cream filling.
- Apple crunch — a chocolate shell with a white apple-cream filling with small crispy bits.
- Milk chocolate and chopped hazelnuts — chocolate cream filling with very finely chopped nuts
There are color illustrations on the back of the box and on an insert inside the box to help you figure out what chocolate is what.

If you’re watching out for allergens, these chocolates contain milk, soy, wheat, and hazelnut. They may contain peanuts, other tree nuts, and egg.
This box contains about 19 three-piece servings. One serving will net you 180 calories, 11 grams of total fat (14% DV), 6 grams of saturated fat (30% DV), 19 grams of total carbohydrates (7% DV), 16 grams of total sugars, and 15 grams of added sugars (30% DV).
My family liked this box of chocolates. There are enough in the box that everyone could sample each flavor — something we couldn’t do with the smaller boxes. Plus, most of the flavors are pretty good. Some of my favorites include the milk chocolate truffle, orange truffle, and apple crunch. Other family members liked the vanilla caramel sticks.
Overall, this chocolate box is great if you really want to spoil your Valentine with gobs of candy, or if you want to share with a lot of people.
The Verdict:
The Choceur Chocolate Assortment features nearly 60 pieces of candy in flavors that include salted caramel, strawberry cream, orange truffle, hazelnut cream, milk chocolate truffle, and more. My family enjoyed sampling the variety of flavors and liked just about all of them.
I am DEVASTATED that the Choceur brand does not sell the apple crunch chocolates individually. These, and the strawberry “cream” chocolates (with the gooey liquid inside) are incomparable. Of course, theres only 4 apple ones in the box – which means I will be heading back down to my local Aldi to spend $50 in chocolate. This is the very first time, in all my 40 years, that I have EVER found a box of assorted chocolate where every single one was “the good one” and not a single piece was left behind as the the one nobody likes. (Im looking at you, maple cream). This assortment blows Russel Stover and Fannie May right outta the water. Im going to be heartbroken when V-day is over and theyve disappeared.
I loved each piece of chocolate. It was very delicious. I usually like nuts in my chocolate but this was so good i didn’t care that there was no nuts. I had the small box. It was well worth the money. Enjoyed it and will buy it again.
