In recent years Aldi has added Choceur Milk Chocolate Covered Pretzels and Choceur White Fudge Covered Pretzels to its snack food aisle. These aren’t healthy foods by any means, with high sugar, fat and carb counts, but they do make a nice snack while watching a movie at home on a Friday night. I tell you this from experience!
These pretzels come in 5-ounce bags, with about 3.5 servings per bag, or about 8 pretzels per serving. They come in at 190 calories per serving. The Milk Chocolate Covered Pretzels have 4.5 grams of saturated fat, 125 mg of sodium and 15 grams of sugar. The White Fudge Covered Pretzels have 6 grams of saturated fat, 130 mg of sodium and 18 grams of sugar.
The pretzels contain milk, soy and wheat and were manufactured in a facility that uses peanuts, tree nuts, milk, wheat and soy.
These pretzels taste great, and they are a welcome addition in my local Aldi store. I remember making a certain type of Christmas dessert a few years ago that called for chocolate covered pretzels, and I had trouble finding them in most stores — including traditional, large grocery stores — and so I ended up making my own at home by melting a bag of chocolate chips in a pan on the stove top and dipping regular pretzels into the chocolate. Now, all I have to do is head to my local Aldi for chocolate covered pretzels. They’re nice for using in dessert recipes or for snacking.
Just be careful because you’ll be tempted to eat the entire bag by yourself in one sitting. My family of four completely devoured two bags in one evening. They’re that good.
The Verdict:
Aldi’s Choceur Milk Chocolate Covered Pretzels and Choceur White Fudge Covered Pretzels are not healthy, with plenty of sugar, fat and carbs. However, they make a tasty occasional snack. Recommended.
My family loves these! They don’t last long in our house once the bag is opened.
I haven’t figured out how to open the bag to reclose without destroying it so I’ll have to destroy one here.
