Every year Aldi sells several varieties of chocolate Advent calendars. These consist of thin decorative boxes with small doors for each of the 24 days of Advent, with a small chocolate behind each door. I usually purchase the cheapest chocolate calendar and my family is perfectly happy with it, but this year when we’re trying to make the most of our extended time at home and find safe entertainment where we can, I decided to try some of the premium calendars Aldi sells.
The Choceur Premium Advent Calendar cost $4.99 during the 2020 holiday season. This is a mid-priced option among the chocolate Advent calendars at Aldi. It costs more than the basic Choceur Advent Calendar with 24 Milk Chocolate Figures, but it’s less than the Moser Roth Advent Calendar with Assorted Chocolates and Truffles.
Like all of the Aldi Advent calendars, this is an Aldi Find (Special Buy), which means it’s only available for a limited time, and you can’t order products like this online from Aldi, so once it sells out at your local store, it’s gone until next year.
This calendar was made in Germany and contains “24 milk chocolate figures with a milky filling.”
Similar to the more basic Choceur Advent calendar, the front of this calendar features an animated holiday scene on the front. Ours has an image of Santa on a sleigh in front of a gingerbread house and surrounded by angels, a snowman, various animals, a Christmas tree, and gifts. Scattered around the front are small perforated numbered doors, and you open one door during each day of Advent, starting with number 1.
The back of the calendar features the same image as the front, but it’s in the form of a blank coloring “page.” The other Choceur Advent calendar Aldi sells also has a coloring feature like this.

The chocolate in this calendar is made with UTZ certified cocoa that seeks to promote “socially responsible and environmentally friendly cocoa farming.”
Ingredients in the chocolate are: sugar, dry whole milk, palm oil, cocoa butter, chocolate liquor, nonfat dry milk, lactose, sunflower lecithin (emulsifier), and vanilla extract.
If you’re avoiding allergens, this chocolate contains milk. It may also contain tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, and soy.

The nutrition information is a bit wonky because the nutrition panel states that one serving is three pieces, and that there are eight servings in the calendar. However, if you do it right, you should only be eating one piece of chocolate each day. Nevertheless, a three-piece serving (30 grams) will net you 170 calories, 11 grams of total fat (14% DV), 7 grams of saturated fat (35% DV), 16 grams of total carbohydrates (6% DV), 15 grams of total sugars, and 12 grams of added sugars (24% DV).
These chocolates are larger than the ones in the basic Choceur milk chocolate calendar. They have detailed shapes, and we’ve enjoyed seeing the variety of the shapes and figures, not all of which are directly related to Christmas. Our favorite so far was a cute turtle, but we’ve also had a crescent moon, a train, Santa, a trumpet, and more.

These chocolates contain a white milk cream filling. The filling is soft but not runny, with a fairly solid and thick consistency. The filling also tastes pretty similar to the outer milk chocolate shell, so it’s not like your typical chocolate box chocolate with very distinct fillings.

If you like chocolate with a filling, this is your calendar. If plain milk chocolate is more your thing, then you’ll want to stick with the basic calendar. Or if you cant decide, just get both!
The Verdict:
The Choceur Premium Advent Calendar is a mid-priced chocolate calendar Aldi sells each holiday season. The chocolates in this calendar are slightly larger than the chocolates in the more basic calendar Aldi sells. These chocolates also contain a white milky filling. It’s overall a solid choice if you’re looking for a chocolate calendar.
Hello! This was a nice review for a nice calendar. I have the same calendar, but a different design on the cover and I am actually disturbed by what I found yesterday (day 14). I don’t know where else to post this, maybe you can help. The design I have is a colorful cartoon city-square landscape with people milling about, and quite lovely. And diverse. There are multiple people of color, including children, as a part of this crowd. However, there is only one Black adult, and he is on/around the door of the 14th. Inside the door, the chocolate figurine was a monkey. Now I know this could be an unfortunate coincidence, but given the old, hurtful association of people with African descent to monkeys, or eugenics, or other incorrect parallels, this kind of association could have been avoided by rearranging the figurines. If this collection is continued next year, I hope this is considered.
