Choceur Premium European Chocolate Collection

Aldi is a fantastic place to shop for everything for Valentine’s Day. It’s a one-stop shop where you can pick up cut flowers or potted plants, gifts and heart-themed décor, and the ingredients for a special meal for your special someone. Aldi has everything for the holiday of love, even down to boxed chocolates.

During the winter of 2021, the grocer is selling several kinds of boxed chocolates under its Choceur house brand, ranging from chocolates packaged in a traditional heart-shaped red box to a giant box of chocolates if you really want to wow your Valentine. They are also selling a box of premium European chocolates.

The Choceur Premium European Chocolate Collection cost $1.99 for a 7-oz. box at the time of publication. This is the cheapest Choceur boxed chocolate option available at Aldi this year, with other boxes running either $3.99 or $9.99.

This is an Aldi Find, which means it’s only in stores for a short time. Aldi does not offer online ordering for its specials, so once this sells out at your local store, it’s gone.

This is a product of Poland and contains Rainforest Alliance certified cocoa.

The box contains 20 chocolates in 12 various flavors, and there are color illustrations on both the back of the box and on an insert inside the box that tell you what each chocolate is. The box contains the following flavors:

• Chocolate with a raspberry-flavored center
• Almond-flavored chocolate
• Caribbean chocolate
• Cream chocolate with cocoa nibs
• Caramel stick
• Hazelnut chocolate
• Chocolate with a cocoa and caramel-flavored center
• Chocolate caramel crisp
• Coffee chocolate
• Coconut chocolate
• Chocolate with a zabaglione-flavored center
• White lady chocolate

The first few ingredients include sugar, palm oil, cocoa butter, milk, soy flour, glucose syrup, and chocolate. To view the full ingredients list, click the photo below.

If you’re watching out for allergens, these contain milk, soy, hazelnut, coconut, and wheat. They may contain traces of peanuts, other tree nuts, and egg.

There are about 6.5 three-chocolate servings per box. One serving will net you 140 calories, 7 grams of total fat (9% DV), 4 grams of saturated fat (20% DV), 20 grams of total carbohydrates (7% DV), and 19 grams of added sugars (38% DV).

As for how these chocolates taste, they’re not bad, but of the three different boxes of Choceur Valentine’s Day chocolates we sampled, this is our least favorite. It has plenty of variety in flavors, but these are all mostly filled with flavored nougat rather than the rich creams and gels that we found in the other boxes of chocolates.

Favorites among my family in this box include the caramel stick, cream chocolate with cocoa nibs, and almond-flavored chocolate. The coffee chocolate is good if you’re a coffee fan. Our least favorite flavor is the Caribbean chocolate, which has a vaguely fruity nougat filling.

This box of chocolates is not flat-out bad, but with this being the least pricey option among the boxed Choceur Valentine chocolates, we tend to conclude that you get what you pay for. If you’re looking for sweets for your sweet, we recommend one of the other Choceur chocolate boxes.

The Verdict:

The Choceur Premium European Chocolate Collection features a collection of various flavored nougat-filled chocolates. It’s the cheapest boxed chocolate option among the Choceur Valentine’s Day chocolates, and while it’s decent, it does not rank as our favorite among the boxed chocolate options.
