Earth Grown Vegan Plant Based Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert Bars

Aldi is a small inventory grocery store, but that doesn’t mean they don’t cater to specific types of diets. Whether you eat gluten free or keto or even vegan, Aldi can be a great place to shop for your specific eating habits.

In particular, Aldi has its own private label product line dedicated to vegan foods, which contain no meat, eggs, or dairy (basically no animal products). The Earth Grown Aldi label includes both everyday vegan products such as meat free chickenless patties and limited-time specials such as breaded cheese sticks, mac and cheese, and meatless meatballs.

Aldi has also sold various frozen desserts and ice cream substitutes under its Earth Grown label, including coconut milk non-dairy frozen dessert and oat milk non-dairy frozen dessert. Both are pretty good.

Recently, Aldi introduced some vegan, plant-based ice cream bars that were so good my husband and I saved them for ourselves, sampling our way through them in the afternoons before the kids got home from school. These aren’t cheap for ice cream bars, but we were pleasantly surprised at how good they are.

Earth Grown Vegan Plant Based Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert Bars

Earth Grown Vegan Plant Based Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert Bars cost $3.99 for a 9.1-ounce box at the time of publication. At about $1.33 per bar, these are on the expensive side, but you’re paying for them to be dairy free and vegan.

These are an Aldi Find, so they’re only in stores for a short time. Aldi does not offer online ordering for specials that are not in stock at your local store.

The bars all look similar from the outside, but the vegan, dairy-free ice cream is unique inside each bar. From left to right: Caramel, Peanut Butter, and Forest Fruit.

These vegan dessert bars come in three flavors: Caramel, Peanut Butter, and Forest Fruit. The Caramel and Forest Fruit flavors feature a coconut-based ice cream alternative, while the Peanut Butter flavor has an oat-based ice cream alternative.

The bars are a product of Italy. They use Rainforest Alliance-certified cocoa and are certified vegan.

All of the flavors are excellent. If you want something that’s as close texture-wise to regular ice cream as possible, the Peanut Butter oat-based dessert bars have a softer, creamier-textured filling that is very much like real ice cream. If you served the Peanut Butter bars to me without telling me they were vegan, I would never know. The Caramel and Forest Fruit dessert bars are good, too, although their coconut-based filling has a slightly harder texture than regular ice cream. The Forest Fruit flavor includes various berry purees such as raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, and blueberries. The packages state that each dessert bar is swirled with a flavored sauce (caramel, peanut butter, or forest fruit), but we didn’t notice any distinct swirls.

All of these dessert bars have chocolate coatings that are thicker than the chocolate coatings on your typical ice cream bar, and that makes them feel more indulgent. Each chocolate coating has a special topping as well: caramelized sugar granules on the Caramel bars, roasted peanut pieces on the Peanut Butter bars, and dried raspberry pieces on the Forest Fruit bars. In short, these taste luxurious and are worth the higher price.

  1. The Earth Grown vegan Carmel and also the peanut butter dessert bars are absolutely delicious and we aren’t even vegan or vegetarian. Please Aldi’s always carry these in your stores. We shop at the Aldi’s in Kingston New York. They are amazing! We buy at least 4 boxes a week.

  2. I just bought the peanut butter ones from Aldi’s on a whim because they appeared to be such a discount and they were out of this world great. I don’t even eat ice cream or desserts but I wanted to see what the plant based tasted like. (I had tried a coconut based one and didn’t really care for it.) Unlike the dairy based ones, it didn’t cause my stomach to hurt afterwords and they were tons better than regular ice cream bars. I would recommend these to anyone and I will be buying them again just to share them.

  3. What is the NET CARB of these bars? Thanku..they are absolutely delicious!

  4. When will the Earth Grown Vegan plant based Forest Fruit non-dairy frozen dessert bars be back in at Aldi? The raspberry was delicious & my husband ate 2 of them & didn’t notice that they were vegan. Me, I love them because they are lactose free & great taste. Now I need more!
