Fremont Fish Market Pub-Style Battered Shrimp Bites

Aldi recently sold some limited-time seafood appetizers, including some excellent bacon wrapped shrimp and some interesting lobster bites. Today, I’m taking a look at the counterpart to the lobster bites: pub-style battered shrimp bites.

Fremont Fish Market Pub-Style Battered Shrimp Bites

Fremont Fish Market Pub-Style Battered Shrimp Bites cost $4.99 for an 11-ounce bag at the time of publication.

These are an Aldi Find, which means they’re only in stores for a short time. (And no, Aldi won’t ship them to you if you can’t find them in your local store.)

These are Best Aquaculture Practices certified and are a product of Indonesia, produced in the U.S. The shrimp were farm raised. This product also contains bioengineered food ingredients.

There are about seven servings in one package, and one serving is two “bites” or two pieces. A two-bite/two-piece serving has 90 calories, 4.5 grams of total fat (6% DV), 1.5 grams of saturated fat (8% DV), 25 mg of cholesterol (8% DV), 320 mg of sodium (14% DV), 9 grams of total carbohydrates (3% DV), no dietary fiber, 1 gram of total sugars, no added sugars, and 4 grams of protein.

The package has instructions for baking in a conventional oven or air frying.

To bake, preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Place frozen shrimp bites on a lined baking sheet in a single layer and bake for 12-17 minutes or until an internal temperature of 165 degrees is reached. For even browning, turn over halfway through baking.

To air fry, set the fryer to 350 degrees. Place frozen shrimp bites in a single layer. Set the timer for 6-7 minutes or until an internal temperature of 165 degrees is reached.

I heated some of these in my air fryer for an easy lunch.

These have a nice thin crispy batter coating similar to some types of fish fillets I’ve enjoyed. The filling is cheesy and gooey (be careful when biting into these because the filling may ooze out), with noticeable bits of rice, peppers, and soft onions. They have a bit of seafood flavor to them, but I thought they were mostly cheesy. My family agreed we liked these better than the lobster bites Aldi sold at the same time.

The inside of a shrimp bite.

I found a few larger chunks of shrimp, but for the most part it didn’t seem like there were that many shrimp in these, or the ones that we did find were really small pieces. Nevertheless, these tasted good, but if you’re hoping for a lot of shrimp, you might be disappointed.

The Verdict:

Fremont Fish Market Pub-Style Battered Shrimp Bites feature a crispy batter coating with cheese, rice, peppers, onions, and small bites of shrimp inside. These are tasty, but we were hoping to find a few more shrimp inside them.

  1. We tried the Fremont Fish Market Pub-Style Battered Shrimp Bites. There was no shrimp unless it was very finely chopped. There was a lot of rice and cheese. I also found them spicy which I was not expecting. I would not buy them again.

  2. I bought these shrimp bites and they were not what I expected!!! They were very spicy.. there was nothing on the package indicating hot spicy. There was barely any shrimp and I could not eat them due to not being able to eat spicy foods!! I will not buys these ever again. Very disappointed.
