Fremont Fish Market Stuffed Clams

If you’re in the mood for seafood beyond the traditional fillets or shrimp with cocktail sauce, several times a year Aldi sells stuffed clams. These are a fun dinner side item for both kids and adults, with a mixture of clam meat and seasoned bread crumbs you can eat right out of the shell.

Fremont Fish Market Stuffed Clams

Fremont Fish Market Wild Caught and Frozen Stuffed Clams cost $4.99 for a 20-oz. package with nine stuffed clams at the time of publication. These are an ALDI Find (Special Buy), so they will only be in stores for a short time.

These are a product of the U.S. and are certified sustainable. They are wild caught using a dredging catch method. The package is marked FAO 21, indicating the clams were caught in the Northwest Atlantic.

One clam constitutes one serving, which nets you 100 calories, 4.5 grams of total fat (6% of your daily value), 400 mg of sodium (17% DV), 11 grams of total carbohydrates (4% DV), 2 grams of fiber (7% DV), 1 gram of total sugars, 0 grams of added sugars, and 5 grams of protein.

The ingredients are a bit of a lengthy list, including some less desirable/less recognizable ingredients. Those with allergies should be aware these contain wheat, soy, eggs, milk, and clams.

The stuffed clams can be heated in a conventional oven, on a grill, or in the microwave. They should be kept frozen until ready to use.

To heat in the oven, remove clams from the tray and place on a baking sheet in a preheated 450-degree oven. Cook for 30 minutes.

To heat on the grill, wrap clams in a foil pouch. Leave the top open for a crispy top or closed for softer, moister clams. Cook on medium heat for 25 minutes with lid closed.

To heat in the microwave, place two clams on a microwavable plate. Cook on high for 4 minutes, based on an 1100 watt oven. Cooking times may vary. It is not recommended to cook more than two clams at a time.

When I buy stuffed clams from Aldi, I usually bake them in the oven. In the past, directions have suggested brushing melted butter on top of the stuffed clams before baking to enhance flavor, and if you do so, you won’t regret it. They get a slightly crisp top when baked, which I like, so I only microwave the stuffed clams if I’m in a real hurry.

They are flavorful, with, not surprisingly, more breading than actual clams. But they’re not bad, especially for the low price, and they make family dinner time fun. Afterward, my kids even like to wash out the shells and keep them to play with.

The Verdict:

Fremont Fish Market Stuffed Clams are a mixture of breading and clams packed into real shells, and you eat them directly out of the shell. They are inexpensive, certified sustainably caught, and make a fun addition to any meal.

  1. mostly bread no clams

  2. Soo salty I don’t recommend it

  3. If there were any less clam in these stuffed clams there would be zero. All stuffing-only one to two centimeter bits of clam each. A waste of money

  4. It’s a terrible item! There is no clam taste at all and I don’t even see any clam bits. All I can taste is bread crumbs and it’s not that good at all. Stay clear of this item!

  5. Terrible. Tasteless. Not sure if there are actually clams in there…What you get for $5, I guess.

  6. Not good, waist of moneny

  7. Not good! No seasoning, mostly bread, Looks great in package but don’t be fooled.

  8. I don’t care for clams in general, so I’ve never eaten these. However, my 16 year-old and my husband love these. They do seem to be heavy on the breading, but my guys are happy with them. Anytime they’re available at Aldi, I buy a couple of trays.

Thank you for posting the rear label of the packaging. I’d saved a few unbaked clams from a previous purchase, wanted to make them tonight, but had not saved the label. Now I know to turn the oven on to 450° thanks to this post. So helpful!

  9. I pulled apart the stuffing to find the clams. As far as I can tell there are no clams in them. Just a clam shell and bread stuffing. Not worth the price. Should be called on false advertising.

  10. No clams don’t waste ur time

  11. Looking everywhere for stuffed clams. Where can I purchase these near zip 91607? You would be doing a kindness in directing me as I have spent hours looking for them. I’m 81 and it gets tiresome! Many thanks.

    • They’re a limited-time special, so Aldi does not stock them all year. However, they are scheduled to be back in stores starting on either October 16th or October 19th of 2022, depending on which day your store stocks Aldi Finds. Each store will get just one shipment, and after that sells out, they’re gone until next time, whenever that might be.

  12. Just about every reviewer has expressed my dissatisfaction with this product.
    It’s a waste of $5.
It tastes like it looks. It’s bread with flavorings. If you enjoy stuffed clams, find them elsewhere…Nuff said, Paul.
