Friendly Farms Whipped Dairy Topping

Last Updated on November 18, 2019

Nothing beats whipped cream in a can. It’s convenient and tasty, and there is something satisfying about pushing the nozzle and spraying a sweet, creamy cloud on top of your pie or ice cream. Aldi sells canned whipped topping as a Regular Buy, so it’s on shelves year round.

Friendly Farms Whipped Dairy Topping

Friendly Farms Whipped Dairy Topping cost $2.89 for a 13-oz. can at the time of publication, which was about a dollar cheaper than a similarly sized can of Reddi-wip from Walmart. It’s advertised as Grade A, ultra-pasteurized, and “made with real cream.”

A glance at the ingredients list indicates this is a processed product, which is probably why it has a long shelf life for a dairy-based product, with a best by date of May of 2020. I view whipped cream in a can as a middle option of sorts because it’s less processed than the frozen tubs of Cool Whip at the grocery store but not the same as authentic homemade whipped cream. If you want real, homemade whipped cream, it’s easy to make using heavy whipping cream, sugar, and optional vanilla extract. Get the recipe here.

Ingredients for the Aldi whipped topping are cream, water, sugar, corn syrup, nonfat milk, and less than 2% of natural flavor, mono and diglycerides, and carageenan. It contains nitrous oxide as a propellant.

One can contains 74 2-tablespoon servings (but who really uses only 2 tablespoons?!). One serving also has 15 calories, 1 gram of total fat (1% of your daily value), 0.5 grams of saturated fat (3% DV), 5 mg of cholesterol (2% DV), 0 mg of sodium, 1 gram of total carbohydrates, and 1 gram of added sugars.

To serve, remove the pull tab from the tamper evident cap to open the can. Shake the can gently. Turn the can completely upside down and press the nozzle sideways. The directions state to rinse the nozzle thoroughly (but I’ve never done this, nor was I aware it was advised) and to return the can to the refrigerator.

Because the can’s contents are under pressure, the directions also state not to store it in temperatures above 45 degrees Fahrenheit, and do not puncture or incinerate the can.

The Verdict:

Aldi’s Friendly Farms Whipped Dairy Topping is an easy, convenient, and delicious option if you don’t have time to make homemade whipped cream. Perfect on top of pie, cobbler, ice cream, milkshakes, or any dessert.

  1. It’s terrible,
The large font Whipped caught my eye and I looked for real cream on the label then I was off and running on my busy way.
If your satisfied with Friendly Farms by all means choose it but if want the taste of real whipped cream steer wide and clear of this product.
Redi Whip has always been my favorite instant whipped topping and yes it is more expensive. Alternatively I have enjoying Great Value Whipped Dairy Topping at its discount price for a few years now.
    My 2 cents.
After my first taste the rest of the can goes in the garbage.

  2. I’m French and let’s just say that la Crème Chantilly, the real name of this French invention, is anything but important in our culture. I tried every brand around (except Costco’s) even the fancy ones and this Aldi whipped cream is the closest thing I found in the States that is similar to the real deal. It saves me a lot of time 🙂

  3. I have used several cans of Whipped Dairy Topping and found it to very tasty. The last can I bought was used once on one piece of pie. A week later when I tried to use it, it had gone flat, the pressure was completely out. sell by date is 11/28/20. This was the first time that has happened but the fact that it did happen makes me question whether to chance it on more purchases of this product. How often does this happen?

  4. Garbage!

  5. This is a delicious product and I have used it for years!

  6. I bought 3 cans of the Friendly Farms Pumpkin Spice coconut whipped topping and after only 3 uses it didn’t work anymore. All 3 cans stopped –
    WAISTED MONEY

  7. We bought the coconut Friendly Farms non dairy whipped topping last week. After following directions on can, it just doesn’t work. Very disappointed. Please advise!
