Fusia Asian Inspirations Beef & Broccoli

My family enjoys much of the takeout-style food Aldi sells. We have regular favorites such as mandarin orange chicken, General Tso’s chicken, and egg rolls. Then there are also the foods that Aldi rotates in a few times a year on a limited basis, such as crab rangoon, potstickers, mini wontons, and more. Today, we’re looking at a beef and broccoli entrée from Aldi.

Fusia Asian Inspirations Beef & Broccoli

Fusia Asian Inspirations Beef & Broccoli cost $4.49 for a 21-ounce bag at the time of publication. This is described on the package as “rice and broccoli with beef in a savory garlic soy sauce.” It was sold at Aldi alongside a beef lo mein dish that my family really likes.

This is an Aldi Find, which means it’s only available for a short time. Aldi does not offer online ordering once this sells out at your local store.

If you’re watching out for allergens, this contains shellfish (mollusk), soy, and wheat. It also contains a bioengineered food ingredient.

One bag has approximately two servings, and a 1-cup serving (298 grams) has 420 calories, 4 grams of total fat (5% DV), 1 gram of saturated fat (5% DV), 90 mg of cholesterol (30% DV), 1,050 mg of sodium (46% DV), 40 grams of total carbohydrates (15% DV), 3 grams of dietary fiber (11% DV), 8 grams of total sugars, 6 grams of added sugars (12% DV), and 43 grams of protein.

Like a lot of takeout-style food, this is loaded with sodium, so enjoy in moderation.

The package has directions for heating this meal on the stove top. To prepare it, thaw the unopened sauce packets under warm running water and set aside. (Do not thaw the sauce packets in the microwave.) Preheat a skillet or wok on medium-high heat, adding 1 tablespoon of cooking oil or coat with nonstick spray. Add the remaining contents to the skillet with the thawed sauce. Cook 9-11 minutes or until heated through to an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit, stirring frequently.

Ready to eat. Lots of rice. A decent amount of broccoli. Not much beef.

This heated easily on my stove top and I served it for dinner alongside some crab rangoon and mini wontons from Aldi. This meal was all right but a bit underwhelming. There wasn’t a lot of beef, and the pieces we had were on the small side, and there’s a lot of rice used as a filler in this meal. It tastes fine, but just don’t expect a lot of protein. This is not the same as the broccoli and beef you’d get at a Chinese-American takeout restaurant.

As mentioned earlier, this beef and broccoli dish was sold alongside another Asian-themed beef dish at Aldi: beef lo mein. My family liked the beef lo mein meal a lot, and it had more beef compared to this beef and broccoli meal.

The Verdict:

Fusia Asian Inspirations Beef & Broccoli has a lot of rice, some broccoli, and a small amount of beef. It comes with a flavorful sauce, but be aware that this is light on the protein. On the plus side, it heats easily and quickly on the stove top.
