Fusia Asian Inspirations Beef Lo Mein

A few times a year, Aldi fills its Aldi Find freezers with a range of Asian takeout-inspired entrees and side dishes including potstickers, crab rangoon, and more. I usually buy several things to fill my deep freezer. One recent Chinese-American dish that caught my eye at Aldi was a frozen beef lo mein meal kit.

Fusia Asian Inspirations Beef Lo Mein

Fusia Asian Inspirations Beef Lo Mein cost $4.49 at the time of publication. It was sold alongside a Beef & Broccoli entrée as well. The Beef Lo Mein package says this is “ready in 11 minutes” and describes this as “Lo mein noodles with beef, bok choy, onion strips and carrots in a savory garlic soy sauce.”

This is an Aldi Find, which means it’s only in stores for a short time. (And no, Aldi won’t ship it to you.)

If you’re watching out for allergens, this contains milk, shellfish (mollusk), soy, and wheat. It also contains a bioengineered food ingredient.

This is a processed food, so it has a lengthy ingredients list, with some of the primary ingredients being pasta, beef, garlic powder, oyster juice powder, soy sauce, and more. View the full ingredients list in the photo below.

There are two servings per container, with a 1-cup serving netting you 350 calories, 4.5 grams of total fat (6% DV), 1 gram of saturated fat (5% DV), 25 mg of cholesterol (8% DV), 1,550 mg of sodium (67% DV), 57 grams of total carbohydrates (21% DV), 3 grams of dietary fiber (11% DV), 11 grams of total sugars, 6 grams of added sugars (12% DV), and 19 grams of protein.

This is prepared on a skillet. To make it, thaw the unopened sauce packet under warm running water and set it aside. (No not thaw the packet in the microwave.) Preheat the skillet or wok on medium-high heat, adding 1/4 cup of water. Add the remaining contents into the skillet with the thawed sauce. Cook for 9-11 minutes or until heated through to an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit, stirring frequently.

Ready to eat.

This heated nicely on my stovetop and I served it alongside crab rangoon, potstickers, and egg rolls. The beef is extremely tender and, for better or worse, it gets melty/mushy in your mouth. There are plenty of noodles, not too many carrots used as a filler (as is sometimes the case with Aldi stir fry types of meals), and the overall flavor of everything was good. My family all liked this, and we didn’t have any leftovers. It’s not the healthiest dish, but it’s something I would consider buying again occasionally.

The Verdict:

Fusia Asian Inspirations Beef Lo Mein features very tender beef mixed with lots of noodles and some carrots, onion, and bok choy. It heats quickly on the stove top and makes a satisfying meal, especially if you like pasta. If you’re a fan of takeout-style food, this is worth trying.
