Fusia Asian Inspirations Savory Pork or Chicken Potstickers

There are certain Aldi products that I automatically stock up on when I spot them in stores. They include gyros sandwich kits, English rose black tea, butterflied lamb leg, and maple leaf crème cookies, to name a few. Another item that I always grab several bags of when it rotates into the Aldi Find freezer aisle is potstickers.

Potstickers are Chinese dumplings that are, according to The Spruce Eats, “steamed on one side, pan-fried on the other.” They’re cooked in such a way that they end up sticking slightly to the pan, but they’re not hard to get up with a spatula or spoon. A staple of Chinese takeout restaurants, potstickers also show up at Aldi a few times a year and last until they sell out. My family loves them, so I always buy multiple bags to keep in my deep freezer.

Fusia Asian Inspirations Savory Pork or Chicken Potstickers

Fusia Asian Inspirations Savory Pork Potstickers or Chicken Potstickers cost $3.99 for a 16-ounce bag at the time of publication. The packages describe these as tender dumplings filled with pork or chicken and vegetables. They come with a packet of soy sauce-based dipping sauce.

As mentioned above, these are Aldi Finds, which means they’re only in stores for a short time. (And Aldi won’t ship them to you.)

If you’re looking out for allergens, these contain wheat and soy. Each bag contains about four 5-piece servings.

These can be microwaved, pan fried, boiled, deep fried, or steamed.

To microwave, completely submerge five potstickers in water in a microwave-safe dish. Heat on high for 3 minutes or until heated thoroughly. Drain water (be careful; water will be hot) and serve.

To pan fry, there is no need to defrost. Place approximately 1 tablespoon of cooking oil in a frying pan with 1/3 cup of water. Add potstickers and cover the pan. Cook a high heat for 3-4 minutes, then switch the medium heat and lift the cover. Cook until the water evaporates and the bottoms of the potstickers are golden brown.

To boil, there is no need to defrost. Place potstickers in boiling water, stirring slowly to prevent sticking. When the water comes to a boil again, turn to medium heat. Cook until the potstickers float and are slightly plump. Total cooking time is about 3-4 minutes.

To deep fry, place frozen potstickers in 350-degree hot oil and deep fry for 2-3 minutes.

To steam, place frozen dumplings on a lightly oiled strainer over a pot of water. Cover and steam for 4-5 minutes.

I always pan fry these. They take about 15 to 20 minutes, and the dumplings turn out tender and flavorful with golden and slightly crisp bottoms.

These never last long on the dinner table when I serve them alongside dishes such as General Tso’s chicken, mandarin orange chicken, egg rolls, or crab rangoon. They might be some of the better takeout-style food Aldi sells, being closer to restaurant food than a lot of other Chinese-American options at Aldi. The pork and chicken varieties taste pretty similar, and my family likes both equally well. I serve the potstickers with the included soy sauce-based dip, and I set out a bottle of soy sauce if people want extra dipping sauce.

Here’s more information about each variety.

  1. LOVE these !! grab them when you see them! stock up, but leave some for me 🙂

  2. As mentioned above, following the instructions, when pan-frying, the don’t stick just a little, mine stuck a lot. The ripped apart trying to get them unstuck from the bottom of the pan.
I was tempted to put the mutilated potstickers back in the bag and return them to Aldi. But, we were too hungry to look for something worse to eat, plus…. Aldi isn’t that close by to be convenient for making such a return on a cooked food product.

    • I always pan fry them and never have problems with them sticking like that. Did you add some cooking oil to the skillet first? How long did you cook them for?
