Huntington Home Fall or Halloween LED Lantern

Last Updated on September 27, 2022

We love to decorate for fall in my house. While I tend to lean toward minimalism in my home décor and organization, I’ve slowly collected more autumn decorations in recent years. We still decorate the most for Christmas, but fall is easily a close second when it comes to putting out trinkets and decorations to set a cozy mood. And Aldi is a fantastic place to score deals on autumn decorations, including candle warmer lanterns, reversible mantel signs, door décor, and real pumpkins to set on the front porch.

This year, my kids were glancing through the Aldi ad and spotted some metal lanterns or luminaries with fall and Halloween cutouts. They asked if I could get one to add to our fall décor collection, so I did.

The Huntington Home Fall or Halloween LED Lantern (Product Code: 704667) cost $6.99 at the time of publication.

This is an Aldi Find, so it’s only in stores for a short time. Each store gets one shipment, and after that sells out, these are gone until next year. Aldi does not offer online ordering for products that are not in stock at your local store.

This is made of metal and is shaped like a paper bag, making it look like an old-fashioned luminary. It’s lit with a battery-operated LED candle, thus practically eliminating the open flame and risk of fire that might come from using a traditional candle. The LED candle is fastened to the inside of the lantern, so it can’t move. I purchased a lantern that says “Hello Fall” and features a pumpkin cutout, but there are several designs and phrases to choose from in the store.

  • Includes LED candle
  • Requires 3 AAA batteries (batteries not included)
  • Includes 6-hour on/18-hour off timer
  • For indoor use only
  • Lantern height: 11″
  • Made in China

Looking straight down inside the lantern, with the tag and “try me” button still attached. The outside of the lantern I purchased is a gray steely color, while the inside is orange. Other lanterns were black or orange on the outside.

A sticker on the bottom of the lantern states that you should never burn a real candle inside this luminary. Keep this LED candle away from heat, water, and condensation. Do not attempt to open any part of the LED candle except to replace the batteries.

To use the lantern, you’ll first need to remove the cord that has a “try me” button attached to it. This is a simple job; just give the cord a firm tug where it’s attached to the bottom of the lantern, and it should pop right out.

Then you’ll need to open the battery compartment under the lantern using a Philips screwdriver, put in 3 AAA batteries, and screw the battery cover back on. To turn the lantern on, slide the button on the bottom to the “ON” position.

The LED candle inside this lantern creates a cozy flickering glow that simulates a real candle with a flame. This is a fun decoration, and although it’s for indoor use only, I’ll probably set it on my front porch on Halloween night to add to the ambiance as trick or treaters go about the neighborhood. For a really dramatic look, you could buy several of these and line them up along a porch, walkway, or driveway.

I’m not sure how quickly this will go through batteries or how long the LED candle will last. I’ll update this post as necessary with any new developments.

The Verdict:

The Huntington Home Fall or Halloween LED Lantern comes in several designs and features a metal lantern with themed cutouts and phrases illuminated by a flameless candle inside. You’ll need some AAA batteries (not included, unfortunately), but otherwise this is ready to display and add to your seasonal décor. One lantern makes an interesting conversation piece, but buy several if you want to line a driveway or walkway for a fun effect.
