Huntington Home Kids Quilt Set

If you need bedding on a budget, you only have a wait a little while before something will show up at Aldi. The discount grocer rotates comforters, quilts, sheets, and plush blankets for beds of all sizes into its lineup throughout the year. I’ve purchased a good amount of bedding at Aldi, including comforters, flannel sheets, regular sheets, and complete bedding sets for a full-sized bed. One of my kids has been asking for a new comforter, so when a unicorn quilt set popped up in the weekly Aldi ad, I bought one.

The Huntington Home Kids Quilt Set cost $19.99 at the time of publication. It was available in twin or full sizes and came in either dinosaur or unicorn patterns.

This set is an Aldi Find, which means it’s only in stores for a short time. Aldi does not offer online ordering for its specials after they sell out at your local store.

Here’s more info on the quilt set:

  • Reversible
  • Made of 100% polyester
  • Hypoallergenic filling
  • Available in Twin or Full sizes
  • Designs include Unicorns or Dinosaurs
  • Machine washable
  • OEKO-TEX certified
  • Made in China

I bought the full-sized quilt in the unicorn pattern. I purchased it for a twin-sized bed because I wanted it to drape over the sides of the bed more than a twin quilt would. The full-sized set comes with three pieces: the quilt and two pillow shams.

Dimensions for the full-sized set are:

  • Quilt: 88 inches by 88 inches
  • Shams: 20 inches by 26 inches

The bedding can be machine washed separately in cold water on the gentle cycle. Tumble dry on low heat. Do not iron.

This set washed up well, and it works perfectly on the bed. The two included pillow shams match the quilt pattern exactly, and they are cuter than I expected. The quilt and shams both feature white unicorns with pink and purple manes scattered among rainbows and small hearts.

Because I sized up, this quilt has plenty of extra material to drape over the sides of the bed, which is nice if you’re buying this for someone who tosses and turns and tends to pull the covers out during the night. It also hangs down enough that it reduces or eliminates the need for a bed skirt to cover the box spring.

The quilt is not very thick, but in my experience, most quilts aren’t. So if you live in a cold climate, you might want to layer other blankets under this. So far, there are no complaints in my house. The one thing that remains to be seen is how well this quilt holds up with repeated use and washing. I’ll update this post later if necessary.

The Verdict:

The Huntington Home Kids Quilt comes in twin or full sizes. While designs may vary if/when Aldi brings quilt sets back to stores, this season it’s available in dinosaur or unicorn patterns. I bought the unicorn quilt set, and it’s cute and functional. I sized up and bought a full size for a twin bed so there would be more blanket overall on the bed and it would drape over the sides more. This is a good purchase and I’d recommend it if you’re looking for kids’ bedding.
