Kirkwood Asparagus and Cheddar Cheese Stuffed Chicken Breasts

Most of my family likes asparagus, so when Aldi offered these Kirkwood Asparagus and Cheddar Cheese Stuffed Chicken Breasts as a Fresh Meat Special Buy, I picked up a package.

Kirkwood

These stuffed chicken breasts are sold raw in the refrigerated meat section at Aldi, and each package contains three stuffed chicken breasts, or three servings. To cook them, preheat your oven to 425 degrees. Line a pan with foil and spray it with cooking spray. Place the chicken in the pan and brush with oil, if desired (I opted not to brush my chicken with oil). Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until chicken is no longer pink. I baked ours for 25 minutes.

Our chicken was good and tender and not overcooked, but it would have been fine if I’d baked it a minute or two less. Each stuffed chicken breast has a string tied around it to hold the cheese and asparagus stalks inside, so be sure to cut off and remove the strings before serving.

The chicken breasts are not large portion sizes. One chicken breast seems just right for one person, especially if you’re watching your diet, but some people might consider the portion sizes small. Each stuffed chicken breast comes in around 170 calories per serving.

The ingredients list is straightforward: chicken, asparagus, cheddar cheese, seasoning (salt, garlic, spices, sugar, onion), and “chef’s seasoning” (bell peppers, onion, salt, garlic, sugar, spices, spice extractive). I’m not sure what the difference is between seasoning and chef’s seasoning.

I would definitely buy these stuffed chicken breasts again. They were tender and flavorful, with just the right amount of seasonings, cheese, and asparagus, and I like any main course that also contains a serving of veggies. Even my picky child ate a decent amount of her chicken breast, so this meal is a winner in our house.

The Verdict:

Aldi’s Kirkwood Asparagus and Cheddar Cheese Stuffed Chicken Breasts are a Fresh Meat Special Buy, and they bake up tender and full of flavor, and without a lot of processed ingredients. The portion sizes are not large, but these stuffed chicken breasts make a good meal if you pair them with a side salad. Highly recommended.
