Lacura Body Care Body Lotion

Aldi’s Lacura body care product line is popular in Europe and generally well respected. During the last few months, Aldi has introduced new limited-time, Special Buy (ALDI Find) Lacura products such as body wash for men and women and 3-in-1 kids’ body wash/shampoo/conditioner. Most recently, Aldi offered Lacura body lotion.

My mom and sister got me hooked on Vaseline Intensive Care Cocoa Radiant lotion with pure cocoa butter last year. It’s a rich, thick lotion with a hint of chocolate scent. I keep it near my computer work space so I can hydrate my hands while I work, especially during the winter months when the air is dry and my hands are frequently chapped and cracked.

So I was intrigued to see that Aldi was selling a nearly identical product, the Lacura Body Care Body Lotion with Cocoa Butter. The bottle says it is comparable to Vaseline Intensive Care, and the Lacura lotion is advertised as having a mosturizing formula that “hydrates for a feeling of soft, smooth, healthy skin.”

The Lacura Body Care Body Lotion with Cocoa Butter comes in a 24.5-ounce bottle for $3.29 at the time of this post. Also at the time of this post, name brand Vaseline Intensive Care Cocoa Radiant lotion retailed for $5.79 for 20.3 ounces at Target or $5.84 for 20.3 ounces at Walmart. So you’re clearly getting more for your dollar with the Lacura lotion.

The ingredients lists are similar, though not completely identical.

As far as how each lotion feels, the Vaseline lotion is slightly thicker in consistency than the Lacura lotion. The Vaseline brand also has the nicest smell. The Lacura lotion’s scent is sweeter. It doesn’t smell as rich and cocoa-ey, but it isn’t bad.

So Aldi’s Lacura Body Care Body Lotion with Cocoa Butter isn’t quite up to the same standards as Vaseline Intensive Care Cocoa Radiant. It’s still a pretty good body lotion, though, and you can’t beat the price. I will probably purchase a combination of Vaseline and Lacura lotions in the future.

Lacura Body Care Body Lotion Advanced Healing

Aldi is also selling this Lacura Body Care Body Lotion Advanced Healing. It’s fragrance free. Similar to the Cocoa Butter lotion, this one features a moisturizing formula that “hydrates for a feeling of soft, smooth, healthy skin.” It says it is comparable to Vaseline Intensive Care.

This is your garden-variety lotion. It’s of a medium thickness. While it claims to be fragrance free, it does have a bit of a mild smell. My husband likes this lotion because it’s your basic, moisturizing, not-overly-girly lotion.

We don’t own the name-brand Vaseline counterpart, so we can’t exactly compare ingredients. However, here is the ingredients list for the Lacura Body Care Body Lotion Advanced Healing:

The Verdict:

Aldi’s Lacura Body Care Body Lotions come in two varieties: Cocoa Butter or fragrance free Advanced Healing. Both are comparable to Vaseline Intensive Care, and while they may not be exactly alike, they are pretty decent imitations. If you aren’t a brand snob and aren’t completely loyal to Vaseline, the Aldi lotion might be worth a try.

  1. Where can I buy more

  2. My Aldi no longer carries Lacura body lotion advanced healing . Where can I buy it?

  3. These body lotions, to my taste are not good! Aldi used to sell a body lotion with almond oil (very similar to Nivea’s) and I just loved it. All of a sudden, around two years ago, it was discontinued, G’d knows why! And now they sell these lotions that are not ‘rich’, I’m so disappointed with Aldi. If it was too expensive to produce they could have increased the price and introduce these other cheap lotions, I would have gladly bought them! So now I have to buy Nivea whenever it’s on offer 🙁

  4. Hi, can kids ages 4 and 8 use the Lacura care & repair coca glow body lotion. My kids love it when I use it and have asked if they can as well
