EDITOR’S NOTE: If you’re looking for information about the Ambiano 12″ x 16″ Electric Smokeless Grill that Aldi sold in Feburary of 2021, click here

I really like my outdoor grill. It’s a nice complement for my indoor stove and oven, allowing me to cook meats and occasionally veggies in a way that I like better than pan frying or broiling. Not everyone can have a grill, especially those who are on a limited budget or who live in places where outdoor grills aren’t allowed. For those people, companies have been developing options for years. (The most famous is probably the George Foreman Grill.) Aldi has been known to sell a few different indoor grills from time to time, and this is one of them.

What We Know:

Ambiano 14 Electric Grill 1

The Ambiano 14″ Electric Grill (Product Code 49021) is an Aldi Find, meaning it’s only in stores for a short time. At the time of this post, the grill costs $24.99, which is a good deal less than other electric grills I could find. Aldi has been selling this grill for a few years now.

The grill is, as the name suggests, 14 inches in diameter. It is a 1500w appliance. The grill includes a temperature-resistant glass lid with steam vent as well as a dishwasher-safe removable dip tray.

According to Aldi, the grill’s features include:

  • A ceramic nonstick copper coating
  • Variable temperature control
  • The ability to stir fry, braise, brown, sauté, grill, and sear
  • A ready indicator light and automatic shut off
  • A cool touch exterior
  • A removable grill for easy cleaning

The grill is backed by a 3-year warranty.

What We Don’t Know:

We run open threads for products we haven’t tested, and that means we haven’t tested this product. We don’t know how well it heats, how easily it cleans, or how well it holds up over time.

  1. The grill part was not removable. It is attached with 2 screws to the part where you put in the plug. I returned it because it is not easy to clean.

  2. I have this grill and I love it. The grill part is removable, at least on the one I have. Very easy to wash, it’s not submersible but as long as you keep the water clear of the plug, it’s fine. It really does impart a grilled flavor without the hassle of an outdoor grill.

  3. Donnot heat well

  4. I love mine. No screws keeping grill attached to base, pops out for easy cleaning. Wish lid was higher cos I want to try big stuff like turkey legs.

  5. I got one where the grill part is not removable. I bought this thinking it was a round version of the Ambiano smokeless grill, with a lid. It is not, this grill is just an electric grill much like an electric fry pan. Not easy to clean, since the the grill pan does not attach. It is not really smokeless. I like the smokeless grill as it has better slits for oil to drain into a water fill pan. This one has one small hole near the end. I would return it, but I used it once, so I don’t think I can. I do not recommend

  6. I got one for Christmas but am having a hard time getting the removable plate out.
