While nothing compares to food cooked on an outdoor grill, sometimes weather, convenience, or other limitations require us to cook indoors. It’s not quite the same, but there are still ways to get a grilled effect while cooking in the kitchen, namely through using a small, portable countertop grill.

The most familiar grill of this type is a George Foreman, but there are plenty of other brands to choose from as well. Sometimes, you can even purchase indoor grills from Aldi.

What We Know:

Ambiano 12" x 16" Electric Smokeless Grill

The Ambiano 12″ x 16″ Electric Smokeless Grill cost $34.99 in May of 2022. That’s $5 more than it cost in February of 2021 or February of 2020, but is still considerably less than many other smokeless electric grills go for at retailers such as Amazon.

Aldi also has sold some other types of indoor grills over the years, including a 14″ circular electric grill in August of 2020 and a panini maker and grill in late summer of 2019 and 2020.

The grill is an Aldi Find, which means it’s only in stores for a short time. Aldi does not offer online ordering for its specials, so once it sells out at your local store, it’s gone.

Features for the 2021 grill include:

  • Adjustable temperature control dial
  • Nonstick surface
  • Removable smokeless cooling drip pan
  • Dishwasher-safe grilling surface
  • Cool-touch handles

The 2020 Ambiano Electric Smokeless grill came with a three-year warranty serviced by Sensio, which is now known as Made By Gather. Made By Gather makes a variety of small kitchen appliances and accessories and produces brands such as Bella, Crux, and Brim.

We don’t yet have details on the 2021 grill, so we aren’t sure if it comes with the same warranty as the 2020 grill.

What We Don’t Know:

We haven’t yet tried the Ambiano Electric Smokeless Grill, so we don’t know how well it works. We also don’t know who manufactures it or if it comes with a warranty. Our goal with open thread posts like this one is to offer a place for readers to share their experiences, ask questions, and offer suggestions.

  1. Ambiano Electric Smokeless Grill
Can this grill still be purchased. If so, how?

  2. I found this grill to be useless. I used a laser thermometer to check the grill surface and it never went higher than 243 degrees, even though it clearly shows 400 degrees on the dial. My steaks were well done with no grill marks. It never smoked, but I would guess that it was never hot enough to do so.

I returned it and bought the Power XL grill air fryer combo which was used for the first time tonight and it was also a big let down. Watched the internal temp and got them cooked to medium but no grill marks at all and more importantly, no grilled flavor. Does anyone make a decent smokeless grill?

    • I had the same issue the meat cooked at a lower temp than the one I selected. I will give it one more try tomorrow. I will leave it on to warm up and see if it gets to 400 degrees. I did get grill marks I left the steaks on the grill for 12 minutes at least. I wanted 4 minutes a side.

  3. I bought this grill ob a special price. Very happy with result. I grill salmon, Veggies and chicken well cook.

  4. I used the grill on Sunday with Pork Chops. While I did get grill marks it smoked up the entire house. I had to open a door and the windows. It was a little difficult to regulate the temp and ensure the meat was cooked properly.

  5. Got one of these as a gift…
Tried it out with 5 sirloin tips, each about 2″ thick.
Got decent grill marks but after recommended cook time per side, they came out pretty rare.

Also, despite following the manual’s guidelines for cleaning, the ‘non-stick’ grill surface proved to be a nightmare as far as cleaning off char and burnt/coagulated oil… Followed the directions and ran water over the grill piece without immersion and used a soft cloth and a little soap but proved impossible to completely clean it that way.

The non-stick surface on any Foreman Grill is far superior to this… I would recommend passing over this product…

  6. Looking for replacement parts for this grill. Model 15400. Anyone know where to purchase?
