Bauhn has been a regular in the Aldi universe dating back to before the beginnings of our site. A private label out of Australia, most Bauhn products fall in the category of consumer technology or technology accessories. In Australia, that has included the likes of televisions, while in the United States it’s mostly been about small electronics like phone chargers, tablet cases, headphones, and earbuds.
And clocks. In recent years, we’ve seen Aldi sell a number of clocks under the Bauhn brand. Some of those clocks have been borderline ridiculous in their complexity, while others have been simple and (mostly) effective. But never before had we seen a so-called “mood light” alarm clock, until now.
What We Know:
The Bauhn Mood Light Alarm Clock (product code 11619) is an ALDI Find (Special Buy), which means it’s only around for a short time. It retails for $17.99, a price well below other clocks of this type. Of note, it’s not just a mood light alarm clock, as it also will play nature sounds as well, a common feature in clocks like this one.
It comes with:
- The clock
- An A/C wall adapter
- A manual
Notably, although it does have the ability to run on AAA batteries, Aldi doesn’t include any.
According to Aldi, the features include:
- The ability to be powered by either DC 5V adapter (included) or 2 AAA batteries (not included)
- Automatic light settings that can simulate sunrise and sunset
- Seven mood light colors, including white, green, red, blue, pink, orange, or cyan
- The ability to wake up to one of six nature sounds, light, or a buzzer alarm
- An LED time display that can show either a 12- or 24-hour format
- An automatic color-changing mode
- 10 levels of brightness
- 15 volume levels
- An FM radio with antenna (no AM, apparently)
- An auxiliary port for playing music from other devices
- A USB charging port
What We Don’t Know:
One of the big unknowns about the clock is its complexity: in the past, we’ve had issues with Bauhn clocks that can be difficult to navigate, although that seems to have improved of late. We also don’t know about the quality of the speaker in this device, which has also been a consideration in previous clocks. Finally, at the time of this post, Aldi has not yet posted a warranty on this clock, so we don’t know how good that’s for, or who services it.

I just bought one and I am less than impressed. The touch buttons either don’t respond or are incredibly laggy, and suddenly the display starts blinking to start setting the time or alarm, even though that button has not been pressed. If this was the only problem I would assume this is just a defective unit and exchange it, but unfortunately the speaker is ridiculously bad, I would not want to wake up to any sounds coming from it.
Difficult to set up. Numbers don’t move or fly fast. Set it up using AM/PM clock. Failed 3 tests. Set it up using military time. Alarm set for test time of 1300. Did not go off. Forgot about it. Shortly after 1800 bright light came on. Expected a glow that ramped up. It was more like a blinding
spolight. At 2320, alarm went off. (Was set for 1300.) No light prior to or during alarm. Would not turn off until I unplugged and removed batteries. Waste of money.
The instructions need improvement. I still have not figured out how to turn off the radio or how to switch to nature sounds. I have not tried the aux feature yet. I might be much happier with this product if the instructions were better.
Can anyone post a picture of the English instructions? We only received spanish versions. I don’t speak spanish and dont really want to google translate the entire thing.

I bought one yesterday and unpacked it, read instructions, and set everything up. The last thing I did was try to turn on the light (and frankly the only reason bought the clock). No matter what I did, I couldnt get the light to work! So I returned it and swapped it out today. I just tried the second clock, and once again, I cant get any lights to turn on. The actual clock quality is functional, but the alarm “nature” sounds are horrid at best. I would be scared awake every morning by them. 0/5 stars for nature sounds. 3/5 stars for a functioning clock. 0/5 stars for a not working light. Grand total: 1/5 stars. Serves the purpose of a basic clock, maaaaaaybe an alarm clock.
Get for a clock and led light, FM radio works, only warm white can be dimmed not RGB settings I dont like, has sunset,sunrise ww ramp up or down over30 mins. Many features some can use improvement but worth cost.
Easy enough to set up, although instructions don’t really match function. Could never get the sunrise to work, alarm did at least; until I used the sunset one night THEN the sunrise works. Instructions say if alarm is on sunrise will work NOT. I bought it for the sunrise but it’s a PITA

This clock is going back to Aldi tomorrow. I am in a horror movie. I bought it for one reason, the sunrise feature. I want to wake to a slowly increasing light. It took me a while to set up everything following the directions to a tee. I thought I had everything correct. I opted for no light background as it is too bright for the bedroom even on the dimmest setting. I did not want any alarm sounds as they were all extremely obnoxious. The barnyard was chickens, sheep, cows …. and the other choices were equally as frightening. Bird sanctuary (yikes) screeching bird sounds, Dawn on lakefront (Are those loons? What birds scream like that?
Reason for purchase was the slowly increasing sunrise feature. A light came on in the middle of the night & I was certain it was the headlight of a freight train.
It is going back to Aldi. I’m sure it won’t be the first or the last one returned. DON’T PURCHASE THIS ITEM.
It would be nicer if the 2 manual That came with it weren’t both Spanish. I would like an English manual. Can’t read Spanish.😔
I have tried resetting the clock and radio stations and alarm settings a number of times. You have to unplug it and remove the batteries to get a fresh start. Following the instructions, which are vague at best, the alarm doesn’t always turn off, it goes into a sleep mood and I come out of the shower hearing chickens and barn animals. I have one color – green – and white. During the night, the device makes ticking sounds, similar to a morse code sound about once an hour. But, it doesn’t do it every night. So after last night ticking every hour, and the bloody thing not working far more often than working, it’s going to the trash. I don’t have the packaging it came in, and the receipt is probably gone, so I highly doubt I can return it. I love Aldi…but this product sucks! Sometimes you get what you pay for.
This is a poorly executed item. The idea is OK but you can not tolerate an alarm clock that does not work reliably. The instructions do not lead to a working solution. Through experimentation I was able to get the alarm to work with the radio but not the light and the radio is on only for two minutes; half of that is inaudible due to ramping up of the volume. You know that even Aldi knows that it is a problem item when you buy it they say, if it doesn’t work out just bring it back when your at the register. Pretty much a fail that we have returned. I did get instructions in english if anyone wishes to try their luck, but I honestly wonder why they’d bother.
I am looking for the instruction manual as mine were missing with the product. It was the very last one! If you could somehow show me the instruction or send to me via-email or photo I would greatly appreciate that!
