EDITOR’S NOTE: Aldi sold this clock again in 2022 for the same price of $14.99.

Aldi has been selling clocks for years now, all of them as limited-time products sold under the Bauhn label. Some of them are pretty good. Some of them are atrocious. All of them, though, are usually interesting.

I haven’t seen a particular rhyme or reason to when Aldi sells clocks, although back-to-school season sometimes serves as a reason to sell clocks alongside dorm décor. It just so happens that, in 2021, Aldi sold a clock right around the time that college kids were (mostly) headed back to school.

What We Know:

Bauhn Wireless Charging ClockThe Bauhn Wireless Charging Clock (Product Code: 704694) is an Aldi Find, meaning it’s only in stores for a short time. At the time of this post, the clock costs $14.99. That’s well below most other wireless charging clocks like this one that I see online. It comes in either black, dark wood, or light wood.

Wireless charging is a relatively new technology that most users may not know much about. In the mid-2010s, there was even a sort of war between different charging formats before one of them — Qi, pronounced “chee” — emerged victorious. If you have a phone or tablet that supports wireless charging, it probably supports the Qi standard.

However, not all phones support wireless charging. Many do, including the iPhone 8 and later, but, not all. I own a fairly recent Moto smartphone, for example, that does not, and there are some other well-known phone brands that don’t. For that reason, you’ll want be sure your devices support wireless charging before getting a gadget like this.

What We Don’t Know:

This is a debut product for Aldi, which means we don’t know how well it works or how long it lasts. Aldi did not release much information on its site about the clock ahead of release. Unfortunately, since we don’t have devices compatible with wireless charging, we won’t be able to put this one through the paces.

  1. This is going back. It’s impossible to set!

    • I’m also having a hard time setting it! I’ve watched several youtube demos, not helpful.

      • I used the instructions from the box and it worked fine.
Press and hold the set button, then it goes through the following order and you set each one to the correct number then press set to go to the next
        Year, Month, Day
Then choose 24 or 12h setting
        then set the time,

if you don’t want any alarms set, then just press set through all of those

        • I was able to set it once. But now it isn’t toggling to the time set. As I press set to scroll through it is sticking when it gets to dp 1 or 2. It won’t let me go past the display choice.

          Any help appreciated.

        • Thanks Jess… I was frustrated and was about to give up. Your suggestion made me less frustrated and my clock from Aldi is now set!!! Thank You.

        • I didn’t have any problems setting it either but I am having a problem with it going black after some time.

    • It’s super easy to set the time

    • It was a challenge but I love challenges…all set!

    • I notice several people agree about it being hard to set….I have one and it is an incredibly clumsy process to set, and easy to accidentally screw it up later and go through the process again.

That having been said, its a pretty good clock. However, recently I must have unintentionally changed some setting, because my display won’t stay lit….turns off after a few seconds, and then reactivates when the clock is touched. Has anyone else had this issue? Would be great if someone know the key to this little mystery.

      • Me too did you figure out why it’s turning off

      • Yes i just bought this and it happened to me. In the instructions it says to reset the clock, there is a reset button with the other buttons. That fixed it. You may have to set your time and date again, but resetting it for me kept it on at all times

    • I thought it was just me!

  2. It’s making a high pitch sound when connecting. I was able to set the time and alarms just by following the instructions that were included. I don’t know if I’ll keep it due to the sound it has. I’ll see if it stops. I have headaches, so if I hear it tonight, it’s definitely going back too. Other wise, I’m keeping it. It’s so Selene looking and connects to my usb connection that is on my nightstand. Love that it charges my phone too. I just got it so we’ll see if I’ll like it overnight.

  3. Annoying lights flashing inside that project out the vent holes in the back. Temperature picks up the heat from the phone charging and is not accurate.

  4. I got it to set just fine, but it won’t charge my phone in any position. It says it’s charging, but then battery % only goes lower.

    • Same here. Had the clock powered with a USB wall plug then tried a side table with built in USB and same issue with both — wireless charging actually loses charge.a

I tried the USB port in the clock and it charges but slowly.

I’ve used the side table’s USB directly and it charges quickly.

    • Me too
Took my case off which is a pain
      The whole reason for purchase
I turn my phone different ways and hear the sound that it connected to charge then I see no difference in the morning

  5. How do you plug it in the electrical outlet? Plug the USB end into the clock then the other end is just a round plug that doesn’t fit into any adaptor I have. I’m at a loss as to get power to this wireless charging alarm clock. Please advise, makes no sense to me at all. Is this some kind of European plug?

    • The USB end does not go into the clock. It goes into a female USB-A power brick that plugs into the wall (the rectangular type you get with your smart-phones and other electronic devices). If you have a newer phone it may come with a brick that has a thin oval looking female plug. That is called a USB-C and is not compatible. If you do not have a USB-A power brick laying around, you can purchase one for cheap online or at an electronics store.

The round end plug goes into the back of the clock. You will find a small round hole near the bottom left corner.

The USB-A plug on the back of the clock is for you to use for charging your devices via cable.

      • Thanks for that information

        • I can tell you that I’ve use this clock for a few months, just plugged into the wall and had trouble charging my phone. I ordered a USB online at Amazon
Jelly Tang USB 3.0 A to A Male Cable 3Ft,USB to USB Cable USB Male to Male Cable USB Cord with Gold-Plated Connector for Hard Drive Enclosures, DVD Player, Laptop Cooler (3Ft/1M)
          And
Last night I put my phone on the clock only to see this morning it was 100% charged.

    • Plug the round end into the back of the clock. Then plug the USB end into any USB outlet, or plug adapter.

  6. I’m trying to figure out how to turn the alarm off! I got it set just fine

  7. Anyone know to turn off the voice mode feature?

    • Pressing the “down” button on the back should bring up a “SD” display. Press the button until it reads “–:SD” to turn voice mode off.

  8. Does anyone have the owner’s manual that they could share? I lost mine and have not been able to set the clock or anything. The display flashes randomly in the middle of the night and I don’t know how to change that. Thanks!

  9. I bought this clock in September and it worked great. I used the USB port to charge my Samsung watch at the same time as charging my Samsung Galaxy phone on the top (I have to remove my case). It worked fine for the last 3 months and now it stopped working this week. I tested with my work phone (iPhone) and it doesn’t work anymore at all.

I have the instruction manual but it doesn’t contain warranty information (if there is any) or an Email to contact.

Here is how to use the clock for anyone who lost the instruction manual like Michele above:

    1. Display mode
There are two display modes, press the button “SET” to change the mode of display.
Dp-1: time, temperature, year, month and day display would change accordingly (Carousel mode)
DP-2: only time and temperature display (mixed mode)
    2. Voice mode (power-saving mode)
    Press the buttom “DOWN,” “on: Sd” “–Sd”;
“on:Sd” means sound control is on
“–SD” means sound control is off
It will automatically close the voice mode in seconds; Display will be Activated when you clap; using built-in sound light function.
    3. Temperature Mode Setting:
Press the “UP” button to change the Temperature Mode from C to F.
    4. Brightness Setting:
Press and hold the “UP” button for 3 seconds to access the display mode brightness, while on this mode press:
    – “UP” (for Brighter)
    – “DOWN” (to Dimo)
    L1. Bright
    L2. Less Bright
    L3. Least Bright
    5. is about power supply
    6. Alarm Setting:
User can set 3 alarm times per day, each alarm testing 1 minute. To stop the alarm press any key on the back of clock.

    I hope this helps anyone.

  10. Mine suffers from time creep where it must not calculate a full 60 seconds and is likely closer to 59. Set the time for 1:00 and a month or so from then the time will be 15 minutes fast. Also, the wireless charging affects the thermometer reading. Perhaps the wireless charging affects the time creep too.

    • My clock gains a minute every 3-5 days. I was hoping to find an answer to a fix here. I am going to try the RESET option. I wish it had an option to slow it slightly. I really got it for the Temp reading. Even with that I set the clock on a tiny grate and away from the wall some to get a more accurate reading.

If the clock doesn’t improve, I think I will COVER the clock portion so friends don’t get confused.

  11. Is the pdf manual available to download online?

  12. Mine just stopped working out of nowhere, got it last month. It’s hard to set but now it won’t stay on
