Open Thread: Belavi 3-Piece Rope Bistro Set

The main purpose of tables and chairs is practical. Tables make for a place to set your drink, or put down your phone. Chairs offer a way for you to get off your feet. Both create a space for eating, talking, and social activities.

Some tables and chairs, though, can serve a secondary purpose. That purpose is visual. They can help create a style or a mood, accenting the space they occupy. If they’re really good (or really bad, for that matter), they can even take center stage as an attention-getter.

The main practical purpose is the most important, but it’s a nice bonus if a set can be both practical and good-looking. A rope bistro set aims to do both. It offers practical spaces to sit and visit, but it’s also designed to add flair and class to a patio, sunroom, or other outdoor space.

You can find these kinds of sets at many places: in big box stores, at large hardware stores, at warehouse clubs, and through online vendors. They’re often seasonal, appearing during the times when temperatures are warm enough to use them outdoors.

In the summer of 2022, Aldi, which is constantly rotating new items into its middle aisle, debuted a rope bistro set.

What We Know:

The Belavi 3-Piece Rope Bistro Set (Product Code: 812107) is an Aldi Find, which means it’s only around for a limited time. Stores will get a single shipment, and once that shipment is exhausted, you won’t be able to find them in stores until they come back, whenever that might be. If you can’t score one at your local store, you’re likely out of luck until next year, assuming it comes back. Aldi does not offer online ordering for products that aren’t in stock at your store.

In May of 2023, the set costs $169.99. That’s $100 less than the $269.99 Aldi sold it for in 2022. This is yet another example of Aldi quietly dropping prices on certain Aldi Finds. Rope bistro sets from other retailers are all over the place in price, with some sets running higher and others lower. The Aldi price seems to be competitive compared to sets of this particular design, although there are cheaper options out there.

According to Aldi, here’s more information about the set:

What We Don’t Know:

We haven’t tried out this particular set, so we don’t know how easily it goes together, how comfortable it is, or how long it holds up outdoors. That’s why we have this open thread for people to share their thoughts.
