A good snowfall can be a magical time in my area. Where we live, it doesn’t snow a lot, but it can snow. Several inches of snow is enough to close schools and turn our neighborhood into a winter wonderland.
With schools closed and the kids and parents all at home, one of the first items of morning business is going outside. Armed with winter boots, gloves, coats, and hats, everyone grabs a shovel to push the snow off the driveway and sidewalk. That done, the kids can often be found making angels in the snow or trying to build something that will last until the next thaw.
Eventually it’s time to come inside … and with it the long line of clothes draped over bannisters and chairs and shower frames to dry off. Unless you decide to just throw everything in the dryer for a bit, air drying winter outerwear can take a while, which is an aggravation if anyone needs (or wants) to head back out into the snow. It’s not uncommon for my coat to be a little damp hours after the outdoor work is done.
I have to admit that I didn’t know anyone made a dedicated product to speed up drying of some of those items, at least not until I saw one of them drop in the Aldi ad. As it turns out, there is such a tool of the drying trade.
What We Know:
The Easy Home Boot, Shoe, and Glove Dryer (Product Code: 57255) is an Aldi Find, which means each store gets a single, limited supply. Once it’s sold out, you won’t be able to get it again until it comes back, whenever it is, and you won’t be able to order it online.
At the time of this post, the dryer cost $19.99. Many of the ones I saw on Amazon were 2-4 times that amount, so in terms of cost, this looks like a competitive price.
According to Aldi, the dryer’s features include:
- Extendable arms for various shoes
- Ability to help stop mold, mildew, and odors
- Adjustable timer with automatic shut-off
- Folds closed for easy storage
What We Don’t Know:
We haven’t tested this device, so we don’t know how easy it is to use, how quickly it dries boots, gloves, and shoes, or how well it holds up over time. We’ve created this open thread for users to share their experiences.

Only gripe I have with the Easy Home dryer is that the mechanisms to lock in open and extended positions eventually lose their strength, and will not remain extended. Still works, just requires shoes and gloves to be propped up.
This has worked well for us. Saved a couple pairs of shoes that had been completely soaked. We’ve only needed to use it a few times so I can’t say about its durability.
I bought mine Dec. 2, 2022. It worked great for about a month. (It’s now early March.) Then it started blowing air for only 2 seconds at a time with 20 second breaks between, instead of continuously; meanwhile the timer continues non-stop. So at the end of the cycle, whatever I put on it is still wet. I’ve contacted the company to request a replacement.
