EDITOR’S NOTE: In the spring of 2021, Aldi appears to be selling this product again but is calling it the Easy Home HEPA Air Purifier. The specifications seem to be identical, and it costs $10 more at $69.99.

Most people know that while air is (usually) clear, it’s not empty. Our atmosphere is filled with countless chemical and biological agents, from exhaust fumes to bacteria. In the spring and summer, allergens also join the mix, with pollen being one of the biggest concerns. Everyone is, to some extent, sensitive to allergens in the air, but some people are affected worse than others. Medicines can help, but it’s also nice to be able to find ways to get away from the allergens altogether.

One option is a HEPA allergen remover, which uses a high-standard filter to pull allergens out of the air. Aldi carries one from time to time.

What We Know:

Easy Home HEPA Allergen Remover

The Easy Home HEPA Allergen Remover (Product Code: 90220) is an Aldi Find. That means it’s only in stores for a short time. At the time of this post, the Aldi allergen remover is $59.99, which is far less than most other allergen removers online. It comes with a 5-year warranty, backed by Tempo USA, a common Aldi after-sales company.

This remover measures 8.5 inches wide and 12.27 inches tall and is designed for rooms of up to 250 square feet. It utilizes two filters: a HEPA filter and a carbon filter.

The HEPA filter is designed to remove airborne particulates, including allergens.

The HEPA filter.

The active carbon filter is a honeycomb filter. According to Aldi, this is a two-in-one filter, absorbing 1) formaldehyde, toluene, other chemical substance and 2) odor in the air.

The honeycomb carbon filter.

In addition, the Aldi allergen remover comes with the following features:

  • Touch display
  • An LED air quality sensor that shows good, fair, and poor air cleaning levels
  • Four fan speed levels: low, medium, high, and turbo
  • A timer that can be set for 1, 2, 4, or 8 hours
  • A detachable and anti-slip air inlet

What We Don’t Know:

As far as we can tell, 2020 is the first time Aldi has sold an Easy Home Allergen Remover. The grocer sold a Holmes Allergen Remover back in 2018 for the same price, but we’re not sure if this one is the same or not. Because it appears to be new, we also don’t know how the Easy Home version performs.

  1. Where can you get replacement filters , what model are they and how much do they cost?

  2. I just purchased this and in the user manual it has a card where to purchase the filters. They are $13 and shipping is $10

  3. Was anyone able to find this in Ohio?

  4. Just purchased one today in Maryland. Can’t wait to see how well it works.

  5. I cannot twist open the filter cover to remove the factory packaging. What is the trick?

    • you need two people to do this. one person holding the base. you can put a metal shower hook in the hole to help open/ close too.

  6. I purchased the last one at my Aldi’s and I noticed that i have not been congested since. For it’s price, for me, it successfully alleviated my issues and serves it’s purpose.

  7. Question: What is the smallest size particles can it filter out? I’m looking for one to use during Covid-19 to improve the air quality in my home. I just bought two of these. I think I would have liked one that wasn’t as noisy as the fans are in these, but if they will filter out the Coronavirus then that will work. What does “PM2.5” stand for?

    • Particulate matter 2.5. It’s the smaller of the two measurements. This is the diameter in micrometers and includes particles of 2.5 or smaller. Viruses are super small. COVID ranges from 20 nm to 500 nm in size.

  8. I bought one for the room where our two guinnea pigs live, because it smells like a barn. I think it has helped the smell. The filter as an “auto” setting where it supposedly detects allergens and smells and switches into a higher mode. That seemed unlikely, but when I fed the piggies a handful of hay, it immediately switched into high gear. Since I think the hay bothers my allergies, I was impressed!

  9. Does it create ozone

My red light is on and fixed and will not go out does this mean that I have to replace the filter, or is this a malfunction? Purchased 08/2020 and today is 10/9/2020 the booklet just says’ you must change often but they don’t say how often. Pittsburgh, PA

  11. You have to call the foreign office at 866-235-5029 to order these replacement filters. The Levoit filters are too big 🙁 At the time of this note – the foreign office is out of stock, which you will only find out after giving them your phone #, full name, and email.

  12. The replacement filters have been out of stock for almost a month now. I am regretting my terrible purchase of this air purifier. It is impossible to get a filter from Tempo. I have called several times and there seems to be confusion on when more air filters will be arriving in stock. Tempo is the only place to get a filter from as I’ve already attempted to find alternate sources. What a rip off!

  13. I purchased the filters a couple of months ago. I guess I got lucky before they ran out. I wasn’t happy it took so long to get. Almost 4 weeks. For those of you that can’t get them. I think I read you could clean the filter like my last purifier, let it dry and put it back on.

  14. I am looking for a replacement filter as wells, please anyone with info or link to a website where I could order one, I would appreciate it if you shared it.

  15. I love the product, but it is impossible to find the filter so is this a one time use its pretty expensive if that is the case.

  16. Just ordered 2 filters that were IN STOCK today. 5 -10 days to receive.

    • Julie Brandenburg

John. Where did you order these from? I need to get some filters for my mother in laws machine asap. If you could help me locate them i would be grateful! Thanks Julie

    • Looking for filters too. Where did you find them. Machine great. Filters hard to find.
      Thank you

  17. Tempo finally has replacement filters in stock, but you are only allowed two, I guess in an attempt to reduce the huge backlog. I’ll have my mother and brother call in for me to get 2 each. I’m sure the filters will run out again and be unavailable for months.

    • I lost my card that came with it to get the filters and have emailed the warranty people that’s listed in the link that’s posted on here. Still haven’t heard back from them and it’s been over a week. Does anyone have a direct link or number to call to purchase them if they are in stock?

  18. Just received my Filter, However how do you reset the “Change Filter” icon off. I installed the new filter and filter icon is still on.

  19. I bought mine back in the summer of 7/20, wasn’t aware until now 3/21 that I had the plastic bag still on my filter, pretty upset that I’ve used it for so long without knowing. I thought it was pretty loud but just figured my home was extra dusty. Fortunately, since I’ve removed the plastic it seems to be working great. Will be trying to purchase more filters soon.

    • Just bought the new 2021 purifier. Same problem. The manual does not state to open the filter area and remove any plastic on first use. Good thing I checked this page out to see reviews, since it wasn’t blowing much air. Thanks to those who commented on this.

Also, please post the number or link if you were successful in getting a replacement filter.

  20. I have called 4 times trying to get a replacement filter. Each time, I was old that there were “out of stock”. does ANYONE ELSE carry a replacement filter?
If I can not get a replacement, I may have to fabricate a replacement.

  21. Grace Villasano

Has anyone tried the amazon filters?

  22. Make sure that the inlet is 2.25 inches if you attempt to buy them from Amazon. Just got mine today, but the inlet is 2.5 and won’t close. Also the diameter is a bit small on these filters so it’s a bit loose, but if you don’t mind that these are a better deal than waiting for new stock.

  23. How long has it lasted for you before the filter needs replacing?

  24. I bought this at Aldi in FL earlier this May. It’s only been I’d say about 17 days and it makes this loud noise now. There is no plastic wrap around the filter. I made sure to inspect the item before using and read the entire manual for proper function. It’s even on a straight and stable surface. I might return this to Aldi even thought there is a warranty, all these comments about the filter not being available or issues, idk might as well buy one that will have filters when needed. Plus the air in my bedroom smelled the same, though it does pick up on gross smells very well. I tested this in the bathroom and found it did in fact pick up smells well. I’d keep it if the fan on the Motor was acting up. Idk I’d decided this weekend.

  25. No filters. DO NOT BUY!

  26. 1.26.2022 I just ordered 2 of the filters over the phone ($30.00 included shipping. Note: just one was $20.00; had to ask about 2 as they did not offer).
    serviceusa@tempo.org
    866-235-5029 between 9:00am – 6:00pm Monday to Friday.
You will want to have the model number handy (tag on bottom of machine, number in top right corner smaller print).

  27. I just ordered 2 (make sure to ask for 2). Easy peasy!

  28. Was just able to get replacement filters ordered for the air purifier today from the phone number above which is also listed in on the bottom of my air purifier. Ask for 2- it was $30.00 including shipping.

  29. Just ordered new filters from the link—- but ring starts out blue but goes to orange and red within 10 minutes…. Help?????

  30. Where can I find a copy of the owners manual? I can’t get it to open to change the filter. I got it from someone on a free Facebook marketplace site. And she didn’t have the manual. I’ve googled and can’t find it anywhere.

  31. I am still looking for a filter for this filter

  32. Ordered over the phone and they have them in stock,

Just got mine in the mail. Ordered 2, still 10$ each plus 10$ S&H.
