Open Thread: SOHL Furniture Memory Foam Roll Away Bed

EDITOR’S NOTE: Aldi sold this bed again for a limited time during the week of March 3rd, 2021, for the same price of $99.99.

If you have friends or family coming to visit for holidays or just because, and if you need someplace for them to sleep, Aldi sells a few options at different times throughout the year. Aldi sells its share of inflatable mattresses, cots, and sleeping mats, but they also sometimes sell a roll away bed.

What We Know:

SOHL Furniture Memory Foam Roll Away Bed

The SOHL Furniture Memory Foam Roll Away Bed (product code 56960) cost $99.99 in March of 2020. Aldi sold a roll away bed for the same price in April of 2019 and November of 2018. They also sold a roll away bed for $89.99 in November of 2019 and November of 2017.

The bed is an Aldi Find (Special Buy), which means it’s only in stores for a short time. Aldi does not offer online ordering for its specials, so once this sells out at your local store, it’s gone until the next time Aldi decides to sell it.

Here are the features for the 2020 bed:

  • Measures 31.5″ L x 78.8″ W x 16.25″ H
  • Memory foam top with damask-inspired fabric
  • Twin-size bed
  • Folds up for compact storage
  • Metal frame with rolling casters

The November 2019 bed came with a one-year warranty. We don’t yet know if the 2020 bed has a warranty, but we assume it probably does.

Also, if you need blankets for your portable bed, Aldi literally has you covered with several options they sell throughout the year, from comforters to sheet sets.

What We Don’t Know:

We have not tried the SOHL Furniture Memory Foam Roll Away Bed, so we can’t speak to how well it works or how comfortable it is. We also don’t know what kind of warranty this year’s bed comes with.

    • Can you replace the mattress on this bed? I’ve had mine for 2 1/2 years and really like it. Are mattresses sold separately?

  4. Bernadette DONNELLY

I would like to know can I still by the roll out bed by sohl

  5. Bought this on the 11th April 2022 in Australia’s ALDI.

Set up was fairly simple, there is a mechanism on each side to keep the bed frame from folding in. The bed frame is fairly sturdy for its price. It only seems to shake if you shift your weight upwards and downwards on the bed but not sideways.

Do note that the max weight limit is 110kg, so you don’t want more than one person sitting on the bed.

The mattress is on the firmer side, feels a bit like a cheap hostel bed so depending on how good of a host you want to be, you might want a mattress topper.

The mattress itself has 2 sets of strings located on all 4 corners of the bed and the middle of the mattress for you to tie it onto the bed frame to prevent it from moving. But doing so will pose some challenges if you would like to cover the mattress with a fitted sheet or even a flat sheet, as you won’t be able to tie the strings to the frame if you decided to have that.

However, there is a ledge on the top and bottom of the bed frame to prevent the mattress from slipping out, so maybe that might suffice. Overall, it’s a decent bed for it’s price ($99.99AUD), and I’m definitely in love with its portability. Worth a go if you have limited space but still want to host people at your place.

I would rate it 5 stars for the value, 3.5 stars for the quality and 3 stars out of 5 for comfort. If you’re used to sleeping on foldable floor mattress, it is fairly fine. I hope this review helps you in making a decision to get one!
