Open Thread: Visage 20-Piece Number Cut Haircut Kit

Last Updated on September 3, 2022

EDITOR’S NOTE: The Visage 20-Piece Number Cut Haircut Kit cost $19.99 at Aldi in September of 2021 and in September of 2022, and it was $16.99 at Aldi in August of 2020.

For those who prefer to cut hair at home, Aldi offers a haircut kit. It’s just in time for getting the kids in shape for the start of a new school year, or for using any time of the year.

What we Know:

The Visage 20-Piece Number Cut Haircut Kit sold for $14.99 in 2019. In 2018 Aldi sold a 21-piece haircut kit for $12.99, and in 2017 Aldi sold a 20-piece haircut kit for $12.99.

Features of the 2019 kit include:

  • Ten guide combs: #1 (1/8″), #2 (1/4″), #3 (3/8″), #4 (1/2″), #5 (5/8″), #6 (3/4″), #7 (7/8″), #8 (1″), L (Left ear guide comb) and R (Right ear guide comb)
  • Number-coded clipper
  • Easy-to-read chart
  • Stainless Steel blades
  • Five-position taper control; 55 total settings
  • Barber scissors, 2 styling clips, barber comb, blade guard, barber cape, cleaning brush and oil, and storage pouch
  • Deluxe hard storage case
  • Five-year warranty

What we don’t know:

We haven’t used any of Aldi’s haircut kits, so we don’t know how well they work. We also don’t know who makes the Visage haircut kit, and we don’t know what company services the warranty. When we sought warranty service for another Visage product, the Visage Pro Series Electric Rotary Shaver, we corresponded with a company titled EuroCentra, but we don’t know if they deal with warranty service for all Visage products.

  1. It looks like these are a rebranding of a 20pc Conair set.

  2. I’ve had this set for a few years. It works fine for my son with thin hair. It barely gets through my other sons’ coarse hair though. The scissors are also not the best.

  3. I’ve had this 20 piece for long enough to have used it twice (a couple months maybe). It works fine for me.
I’m pretty much bald on top. So I try to keep the sides and back short cause I think I look silly if I don’t. So I was spending $15+ (tip) at Great Clips about every 6 months to get the barber to buzz my whole head with the #2 or #3 comb on the clipper. So when I saw this at Aldi for < $15 I thought what have I got to lose other than $15?
It works fine. I do it out on the patio with an old sheet clipped around me. It takes no more than 10 minutes.
    Quite satisfied

  4. How noisy is it?

  5. Ive used mine about 3x and now they arent working well anymore. Like a couple people above said they struggle cutting through thick hair

    • You need to oil them with clipper oil which you can find in Walmart or Sally’s Beauty Supply. If you’re going to use them on multiple people you also need to sanitize them with alcohol.
