Aldi has been known to sell some big-ticket pieces of exercise equipment. In recent years, the discount grocery store has sold an elliptical, a workout bench, adjustable dumbbells, and two different treadmills.

Both of the treadmills Aldi has sold were under the ProForm brand, which is not exclusive to Aldi. In the winter of 2021, Aldi sold the ProForm 205 CST Smart Treadmill. Then in the spring of 2022, Aldi sold the ProForm Cadence LT Smart Treadmill.

The ProForm Cadence LT Smart Treadmill (Product Code: 702765) sold at Aldi for $389.99 in the spring of 2022. This price is similar to what other outlets are selling this same model for. Treadmill prices vary wildly, costing anywhere from a few hundred dollars into the thousands. This ProForm treadmill at Aldi is on the lower end of prices, especially especially considering its features.

Of note: Our product tester purchased their treadmill at Aldi on clearance for $300. Aldi sometimes discounts Aldi Finds that have been on store shelves for a time.

This is an Aldi Find, so it won’t be in stores for long. Aldi does not offer online ordering for specials that are not in stock at your local store.

ProForm is not an Aldi brand. Instead, it’s one of the product lines of a company called iFIT, which until 2021 was known as ICON Health and Fitness. iFIT’s other brands include NordicTrac, Freemotion, and the now-discontinued brand name Weslo.

This treadmill’s features include:

  • A free 30-day iFIT membership that offers on-demand workouts, trainer-led global and studio classes, and auto-adjusting personalized speed
  • 5″ high-contrast display
  • 0–10 MPH speed
  • Digital quick speed controls
  • Two adjustable incline positions
  • Pro Shox cushioning
  • Integrated device shelf
  • 2.0 CHP Motor
  • 16″ x 50″ tread belt
  • Dimensions: 29″ W x 64.5″ D x 54.5″ H
  • 275-lb. weight capacity

The treadmill comes with a warranty good for 90 days on the parts and 1 year on the motor, all backed by iFIT.

Assembly:

Our tester reported that the treadmill was easy to assemble. They were a little disappointed that this treadmill does not have a power incline, although that feature didn’t work well on their previous treadmill, so it’s not a deal breaker. Instead of a power incline, this ProForm treadmill has plastic that can be lowered for a level surface or raised for a fixed incline.

Using the Treadmill:

After assembly, our tester’s treadmill was locked and they had to register it with iFit in order to begin using it. They had some challenges unlocking the treadmill and ended up doing a live chat with iFit to sort it all out. The treadmill has Bluetooth and connects to a phone. It costs around $16 a month for a single iFit membership, but this treadmill can be used without a paid iFit account. There are a limited number of online workouts for unpaid accounts, and our tester does not plan to pay for an account.

The iFIT app is available both on the Google Play Store and on the Apple App Store. At post time, the Google Play app has 3.7 out of 4 stars based on nearly 10,000 reviews, while the Apple app has 4.7 out of 5 starts based on nearly 35,000 ratings.

Our product tester’s initial impression is that the treadmill is nice. They used the treadmill in a manual mode, connected to the iFIT app but not using any of their paid content. In manual mode, it displays time spent on the treadmill, estimated calories burned, distance, and average pace.

Manual workouts are also saved and displayed in a calendar area.

Overall, our product tester likes this ProForm treadmill and has enjoyed putting it through the paces. After some initial hiccups sorting out the iFIT registration, it appears to be a good addition to their exercise routine.

The Verdict:

The ProForm Cadence LT Smart Treadmill is not exclusive to Aldi and is on the lower end of prices for ProForm treadmills. This treadmill uses the iFIT app, but a paid iFIT membership is not required to use the treadmill. Our product tester ended up doing a live chat with iFIT in order to unlock the treadmill and begin working out. After sorting that out, it looks to be a good treadmill for the price, and the ability to log and track workouts through the free portion of the app is a nice feature.
