Roseland Pork Sirloin Roast

Aldi has several good options in the meat department if you’re looking for a seasoned, ready-to-bake or ready-to-grill entree. The Roseland Pork Sirloin Roast is one of those options.

Roseland Pork Sirloin Roast

The Roseland Boneless Seasoned Pork Sirloin Roast is sold refrigerated and contains up to a 15% solution of water, vinegar, sodium phosphate, pork flavor, salt, and carrageenan. I opted to purchase the Garlic & Herb variety of pork roast, so my roast was coated with a garlic herb rub seasoning and paprika.

The roast baked up tender and flavorful, and my picky kids thought it was decent. Even when I reheated the leftovers the next day, the pork remained moist and didn’t dry out.

The pork roast was $2.49 per pound at the time of purchase. The package I purchased was 1.545 pounds and cost $3.85. Nutritionally, the roast is approximately 4 oz. per serving (my package had about six servings), with 130 calories, 1.5 grams saturated fat (7% DV), 620 mg sodium (26% DV), and 0 sugars.

The ingredients are : pork, water, seasoning rub (salt, sodium phosphate, spices, paprika, sugar dehydrated garlic, parsley, dehydrated red and green bell pepper, dextrose, natural spice extractives), vinegar, salt, sodium phosphate, pork flavor, and carageenan.

There are two ways to prepare the pork sirloin roast: baking or grilling.

To bake in a conventional oven, preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Remove the roast from the package and place in a shallow uncovered baking dish. Roast for approximately 20 minutes per pound or until meat thermometer registers 160 degrees internal temperature. Let rest 5-7 minutes before slicing. Do not overcook.

To grill, remove from package and place directly on preheated grill. Grill over indirect medium-high heat for approximately 20 minutes per pound, turning occasionally. To ensure proper doneness, meat thermometer should register 160 degrees. Let rest 5-7 minutes before slicing. As grill and oven temperatures may vary, please adjust cooking times accordingly. Do not overcook.

I chose to prepare my pork sirloin roast in the oven. It was a 1.5-pound roast, at with instructions saying to bake about 20 minutes per pound, I thought it would need about 30 minutes of baking time. My meat thermometer didn’t’ read 160 degrees until after 45 minutes of baking time, though. I’d recommend allowing more time to cook than the directions indicate.

The Verdict:

Aldi’s Roseland Pork Sirloin Roast is tender and flavorful and makes for an easy dinner if you pair it with a salad or vegetables. Do be aware that for me it required a substantially longer bake time to reach the appropriate temperature than what the package directions indicated. Otherwise recommended.
