Royal Class Men’s Dress Socks

Last Updated on December 15, 2017

Royal Class is the Aldi house brand for men’s clothing, much of it an imitation of more upscale brands. Royal Class clothes include slippers, sweat pants, pajamas, and even dress belts. So it’s not a huge surprise, to us at least, to see a Royal Class take on men’s dress socks.

Royal Class Mens Dress Socks

Royal Class Men’s Dress Socks come three pairs to a pack, and at the time we purchased them they ran $4.99. That puts them at $1.66 a pair, which is substantially cheaper than any dress socks we’ve seen, outside of some random crazy holiday sale. These are less money even than the generic dress socks we’ve seen at big box stores, to say nothing of department stores.

The dress socks come in assorted colors and sizes, and the packages clearly state the shoe size range, so finding what you need shouldn’t be too difficult. We opted to buy socks we would pair with khakis, going with a set filled with browns and creams.

The packaging boasts a “comfortable toe seam,” “soft yarn for superior support,” and “reinforced heel and toe.” Any man who wears dress shoes knows that this last part is particularly important, as holes in the toes and heels are common.

The socks are 69% polyester, 25% cotton, 2% spandex, and other fibers among the remaining 4%. The instructions call for washing once before wear, using machine wash cold with like colors. As you might expect, the instructions warn against bleaching, ironing, and dry cleaning. According to the packaging, the socks are made in China and are certified “Standard 100” by OEKO-TEK, which tests for harmful substances in textiles.

Early impressions on the socks: they’re comfortable, have some extra cushioning in the heel and toe, and look pretty good. I didn’t think much about them during the work day, which is a compliment. Time will tell about durability, but at the outset, they’re promising.

The Verdict:

For a lot less money than we’ve seen socks in most other places, Aldi delivers a pair that are comfortable and decently stylish. We’ll see how the heels and toes hold up in the long haul, but for the working man needing dress socks to go with your dress shoes, these are worth a look.
