When it comes to food preparation, the amount of time we have versus what we need isn’t always the same. That’s why, for example, electronic pressure cookers have become so popular. The same goes for kid meals: it’s not hard to forget about packing a kid’s meal until it’s so late you only have a couple of minutes to throw something together.
Prepackaged Lunchable-style boxes are always popular, but they also typically need to be kept refrigerated. If you need something that can go, say, in a paper bag, your options are more limited. During those times — or during times when you need a simple snack available at a moment’s notice — the best option is something that can be pulled out of the pantry and tossed in the bag on the way out the door.

Savoritz 4 Kids Peanut Butter Toast Crackers are a Regular Buy, which means you can find them in stores all the time. At the time of this post, the complete 5.5-ounce package runs 89 cents. The package holds six wrapped packs of 4 crackers, for a total of 24 cracker sandwiches, which comes out to about 14.8 cents a pack, or 3.7 cents per sandwich.
The nutrition information is printed on the back, but a few notes. One, these do contain a modest amount of fat and sodium, not surprising given the crackers and peanut butter. Two, these contain wheat, peanuts, soy, and milk. Three, they do not contain any high fructose corn syrup, although they do contain some added sugar.

The individual packages come in compact wrapping and are easy to open, even for a kid. As you would expect, you can even open them in such a way along the seam that the packaging can be used as a little envelope to pull them out one at a time. (Don’t worry about recycling, though, as none of the packaging is recyclable.)

The cracker sandwiches themselves are tasty, both on the peanut butter end and the cracker end. Our kids love them, and to be honest the adults do, too. One typical problem with these kinds of snacks is that they tend to produce a lot of cracker crumbs, and these are no different: unless you’re popping the whole sandwich in your mouth at once, expect a few crumbs, even if you’re not a kid. That’s no surprise to us, though.
The Verdict:
These peanut butter cracker sandwiches are quick, easy, tasty, and inexpensive — in other words, they’re just about everything you want. The individually wrapped packs are perfect for throwing in a bag, and while they’re not huge, they make for a quality snack or side item to go with a lunch. Our kids approve.
